hey guys, first post.

ive had gran turismo since the first one came out and ive never had a wheel. I just got the logitech driving force GT, and i cant control my car at all. with a low power front wheel drive car im ok, but anything that can get a little bit sideways out of turns it ends up over correcting then slamming into walls and such. is it the wheel, or is it me? are there different settings? i know alot of people are saying the G27 is awesome, does that model have options the gt doesnt?

how do you guys set up your driving options? ive always had everything on 0 except for abs at 1. should i crank everything up a bit?

I would leave all the driver aids off except abs set to 1.I have a driving force pro wheel and I just recently switched it to use the 270 degree mode. Before I was using the 900 degree default setting which means you can rotate the wheel a full 2.5.times.Once I switched to the 270 degree mode the cars were totally different and easier to drive.Just keep using your wheel, there is a learning curve that you have to go through.
To switch your wheel to 270 press the select+r3+right paddle shift all at the same time, if you've done this right the wheel should start to rotate left and right and end up back at the center with just the left green light on.
hope this helps

Hey, I got the DFGT wheel on Tuesday. It is a really awesome bit of kit for the money compared to it's pricey alternatives. So rest assured - its about tweaking the settings and also learning to use it.

You can change the Force Feedback Settings. Go in to the settings menu. The one that you can access before you enter GT Mode or Arcade etc. In Steering settings you can change the FFB settings. The default is on 5 but reduce that down to 1, then practice for half hour. Then increase to 2 etc etc. I spent 4 hours going round the Top Gear test track until I felt confident enough to increase it back to 5 - I havent increased from there though as level 5 is hard enough sometimes.

I done exactly what you did. RX8 concept, tuned up to 400bhp.... slammed in to a wall on the first bend because the wheel wrestled with me.... and won lol!

I bought a 03' Focus ST - tuned it up and practised until I was used to it. I had all driving aids off accept Driving Line and ABS was on 1. I also had the grip reduction set to 'Real' - and in the main settings that I mentioned earlier I set the driving type to 'Simulation'.

The pedals are really sensitive. So make sure you balance your accelorator as you would in a real car. Don't just slam the pedal down because, as I found out, if you do that you will skid out very fast and hit a wall... :( Also the brake pedal is really responsive but you do still have to get it right lol

Hope this helps.

PS - If it's any thing to go buy - last night I spent 2 hours on Monza in the Focus and even my wife was lapping just 1.9 seconds slower than me! (ok did I just admit that? lol)

maybe go into the controller/device settings from the main menu and change the force feedback of your particular wheel to a stronger value. i set mine to 10. i use the driving force pro wheel.

I think he meant the FF is too strong not weak lol - doing that would write of his car and his face quicker than Blanka in street fighter II lol:dopey:

It just takes a while to get used to the wheel is all. At first you will have major problems when driving the more powerful RWD cars. The rear will start to step out in a corner and it is gone. Once you get a bit used to it then it becomes easier to control and eventually feels great.

You can turn on Skid Recovery which will help a lot but at the same time will make it take longer to get the feel for the car. Best way and the hardest way is to drive without any assists other than ABS=1 and maybe some mild level of TCS.

When I first got my DFGT I used 3 on the FF settings. Now I wish it had a setting of 20 :)

You can also start with an AWD/4WD car and buy the torque sensing differential (I think) upgrade. You can then adjust the front/rear power distribution and work from 50/50 to 0/100 and get a sense of how best to apply the throttle.

Basically, when braking into or accelerating out of a turn, only do so when you're traveling in a straight line as much as possible.

It's you, but don't worry you should learn quickly. Just be easy with the throttle on powerful cars.

Brake before the corners, then turn, then accelerate when you are going straight.

With more experience you'll be able the mix braking and turning a bit, same for accelerating in a corner.

Don't worry if at first you are rubbish with a wheel, I was when I got mine, just use it whenever you can and you will start to find whole seconds on the track from where you were with a controller.

The wheel does take a bit of game time to get used to, but from personal experience I can tell you when the learning period is over, you will LOVE the wheel!!

Thanks Guys for all the suggestions. so far ive stuck with the stock wheel config, just put up traction control on my stronger cars. i am liking it alot more now! but i did have to go back to the controller for the german car race around nurburg ring(sp i know sucks). but other than that i have stuck with the wheel and i am getting alot more accustomed to it.

With RWD cars you can use traction control. It let you floor the gas without problems because it will block the trottle just enought to prevent a spin.

Is this just for the DFP or can it be done for the DFGT aswell, because my problem is that a drift starts and I just can't get the lock to correct it. I can be smoother and faster with a wheel, but I find it's a lot easier to correct mistakes with a controller.

I dont think you can do it with the DFGT as would of myself
