Is it true that most states don't have gym class in high school?

Last year I heard from my teacher that Illinois is, I think one of a few(or maybe only?) state to require students to take physical education. The good thing is we get exercise. The bad thing is I suck at gym. So does your H.S. require you to take gym?

Only up to 10th grade in my school. 11th grade takes computer instead and the seniors take sign language.

Well, even if it does, It won't do it. I refuse to run around throwing a plastic peice of crap around. Its not fun.

Heh. W3rd.

We have 2 seperate gym lessons in my school up to grade 9? (13-14) We have P.E which is things like gymnastics and rackets sports. And we have 'Games' which is rugby and soccer and in the summer cricket.

Once you reach 10th Grade you only do 1 lesson a fortnight unless you choose P.E as a GCSE subject.

Exactly. In my school, you can either take a year of P.E. or ROTC. I choose ROTC, and im there for my 2nd year. Im not a high rank either.

At the local High School, the guidance states that you must have 1 whole credit of gym classes in order to graduate. All the classes are for half the school year, and acount as 1/2 a credit. So, In that case, yes. Gym is a requirement here. I don't know about the whole state of Maine.

Reserve Officers' Training Corps, I think. It's sort of an Air Force-sponsored program for high school students.

Anyway, at my school, I think you have to get 20 credits of P.E./ROTC, which amounts to ~2 years. I'm running XC all four years though, so it doesn't matter to me.

Back when I was in HS, that was 16 years ago, I had the first two years mandatory P.E. but the other two years were optional. This gave the student the opportunity to try other things. Like photography, electronics, auto shop, metal shop, etc.

I did four years of P.E. the last two which were Tennis/Bandminton and Weightlifting/Conditioning. During the conditioning part, you get to choose any sport activity you want, by joining other lower class P.E. classes. That was a lot of fun, because you got to play with freashmen. I recall, spiking the ball in volleyball was very entertaining. :D

West Virginia requires that students make lewd jokes with their peers while undressing themselves. And a 'health' credit.

Credits? I have no idea what you people are talking about... Australia requires you take 2 hours of sport a week for year 7-11, then final years you get to go home early :)

At my school you are required to take 2 and a halve credits (three semesters) of physical education classes (i.e. PE, ROTC, Dance, ect....), or 2 and a halve credits of special classes like band or other elective classes which I'm not entirely aware of.... :guilty:

to tell you the truth, there are to many options, so I just chose PE.
