Hello guys.

As you can read in the name of this thread, I'd like to know if the 360 is worth getting, Becourse if so, id buy it for my self as a xmas gift.

The games i tought about getting is , skate , forza 2 and pgr 4

and oh! the red rings of death thing, does it happen to all 360's?
Course i was looking at a elite , which i think fits best to my setup course its black,
í do have a ps3 atm, and i love it, but all my friends has 360's , and tells me to get it, so.

Thanks in advance

I'll quote what I posted on another forum to a '360 or PS3' thread.

I don't see the point in discussing graphics as unless you're actually going to sit the consoles side by side you're not going to really compare it and at the end of the day, they wouldn't release a new generation console with poor graphics.

The main decider I see is simply which console has more exclusive titles that you'd want. I eventually went for the 360 as I've always enjoyed Halo, plus it has Forza, Gears of War etc. Of course the PS3 has Little Big Planet, Gran Turismo 5 on the way etc so it's down to your personal preference.

The only other factor is simply the 360's online service is a subscription based system, but unless you're really tight I don't see a big issue with it, but the PS3 is free.

The older 360 models do have a tendency to overheat and eventually die, but they've supposedly improved this after a certain date, although they'll never banish it because of it's rushed design and pour air flow. Should this still concern you, get an external extractor fan, I got one just to be safe and it cost £10, hardly breaking the bank for a precaution.

Personally if I were you I'd get a 360 if you know several others with it, but remember you'll most likely meet other people online anyway.

Most of that is relevant your question I believe.
Also, the Elite is probably the best choice for the 120GB Hard drive so you can install any games you might want to for the small benefits it provides. Plus let's face it, the Elite does look better ;)

I'll quote what I posted on another forum to a '360 or PS3' thread.

Those external fans are well known for ruining Xboxes/PS3's. Every reviewer says stay away from them. They do not help keep your system cool, and they can actually in some cases cause overheating. I wouldn't recommend such if I were you.

As for the question...

Yes, it is worth it. I own both systems, and while I play them both, I tend to be on the 360 a little more often just due to the larger number of good games available for the system.

Your best bet, is to go to an online shopping site like www.amazon.com type in "XBox 360 games" and "Playstation 3 games". See which console has more of the type of games you would want to play.

;)

Well, the usual question is : What do you look for in a console
PS3 has already saved you 400 dollars (USD) with the Blue-Ray DVD player.

Well,

The only reason i'd like to get a 360 is for the games, and the online which , what i heard is much more complete on 360,

Nk4e , the main reason is , i wanna play forza 2 and pgr 4 with my buddies , simple as that :)
And I have been wanting one for a while now, I think i'd buy the grey model 60 gb pro.
It fits best with my setup , and isn't that much more expensive than the Arcade model.

As for upcoming games, i think Skate 2 would run better on 360 then ps3, becourse Skate lags on ps3, which is pretty sad .

That said, I wanna thank you for all you're good advices! :)
Now let's see if I pick up a 360 at Xmas time :)

The 360 is a great system and is on par with the PS3, although the PS3 does some things better. That should be expected though as they were designed to be two different things.

I've owned one for quite a while now, since 2006, and only had to get it replaced once due to my own idiocy by knocking it off the table. I had that warranty thing through Best Buy though so it was no big deal. All of my friends have 360's as well and have never gotten the red ring either. The problems with the 360 was blown a bit out of proportion. While there were many problem there were many more systems that did not fail and continued working just fine.

Forza is a great game and on par with the GT series, anyone who tells you differently obviously hasn't played both. GT is not better, nor is Forza. PGR4 is good but I really think PGR3 is a better overall game with it's gameplay. PGR4 offers a better racing experience though.

I don't know how much you are into RPG's but probably one of the best games I've played to date is Mass Effect which had an excellent story line and cool gameplay. It is one of those love/hate games though since it is an RPG, if you aren't an RPG player you probably shouldn't bother.

It's definitely worth getting one, the online play, although it costs you so much per month, is miles ahead of the PS3 online experience. You'll find that interacting with friends is 100x better on the 360, the updates and downloads are also faster.

If you're into racing games you've got PGR4, Forza 2, and the usual games like Burnout and NFS too. Plus it feels better to drive the cars with a 360 controller than a PS3 one.

Then if you want to buy shooters there's loads of them available, all with excellent online play, Gears of War 2 and Halo 3 being worthy of mentions. Call of Duty World at War is also better online on the 360 than the PS3 having played both on the same setup at home.

Oh, and Fable 2 is awesome too, I don't usually like RPGs but it's so much more than that. 👍

Thank you for the good answer Moglet!

Damn it, you guys have just pushed me futher , I will probably buy one next week :D

And if I do so, Am I allowed to add some of you as friends ? :)

Buy!!!! I´m happy, so I think you will be happy too!!! The red rings of death...never happened to me and I have two 360´s...both working good.

Games...you have mentioned two worth getting...PGR4 and Forza 2. You will be amazed with them. Good online in both of them btw:tup:

You also have GTA 4...don´t forget the new content is almost coming. Games like NFS Undercover, Devil May Cry 4 and like Moglet said Fable 2 are also great options.

Happy gaming mate :)

You can add me if you like, I play PGR4 and Forza 2 quite a bit. 👍

Another thing I forgot to mention is that the 360 headset not only comes with the console as standard but is much better than the PS3 bluetooth one. Voices are clear and loud, it's comfy, and the controls are easy to use as they're in line with the controller.

The only thing you will have to watch out for is the hidden costs of going wireless. None of the 360 consoles come with wireless as standard and the wireless adapter costs £60 (Not sure about prices in other countries)

@Ntx,
hehe I'm sure i will, thanks bud :)

oh, i thought all 360's had wireless controllers, you always see that in the pictures, but honestly, i don't mind if they wired.

At the moment im drawing a self for my ps3 and the 360, gonna make it in wood when i get the 360. , gonna be baller ! :P

Sorry, I meant to get online. The controllers are wireless out of the box.

Ohhh,
well that dosen't matter to me, i don't have a wireless router anyway, if that is what you meant.

Oh, well you will be fine then. Let us know in this topic when you get one and what games you get :)

This is that Self i was talking about drawing,
gonna bend it in Plexi glas :)

And Moglet thanks for you're awesome help , much appreaceted :)
Ps i just added you on msn

Really? You have a hard time finding people to play Forza with? It seems like every time I fire it up I can find at least 3 or 4 people in get a couple races going. Just send some messages out to your friends who have it and ask if they want to do some racing.

I think that is the problem for me, though I should of specifically told the questions" I need to find people who would like to drift". But I do need help setting up my S2000.

I say the xbox360 is totally worth it. While it seems you have decided to get one. I must say they are quite the machine. I don't own one but my friend let me borrow his for a week. He had a few good games and I pressured him to buy forza 2, I loved it after setting up the controls to my liking. Unfortunately... It RROD'd on friday in my care. I blame gamestop for doing a bad refurb on it. But I think if you go get a brand new one you should be really happy with it. I think that if my parents have bought me a laptop for christmas I'll go pick up my own 360 and buy forza 2 as well.

@nightkids4ever: if I could get XBL I'd totally go drifting with you. I love how easy it is to drift in forza.

I think that I am making it complicated on the settings at it is. I didn't like how people dropped the tire pressure and messed with the negative camber, though that's a different topic to talk about. The 360 is worth it but the gaming price isn't, for XBL, 60 USD isn't that bad at all for 13 months.

Ps i just added you on msn

I rarely use MSN anymore, it's best just to add me on Live once you've got it going, and I'm online with my PS3 too. 👍
