I would assume keeping "rarer" cars the way they are without any weight loss or engine modifications and car would keep it's value when it for example changes hands and the new driver would want a car a certain weight or not with as much HP. Its just a speculation. Any thoughts?

Yes especially older models, if the car is not a run of the mill car, yes stock always wins over modified unless modifications are done with quality parts that are sought after on the particular car model and done tastefully, but if said car is with very low miles collector car condition do no touch with crappy mods.

Example

Buick Grand National, these things are very thought and desirable cars, these go from 8k to 20k in very good condition with decent mileage and engine mods, but if you have a ridiculous low mile example especially a GNX those go for lots of $$$$$$$ but they must be unmolested and have as much documentation as possible.

Same goes for run of the mill cars like older 90's Civics, find a stock unmolested one is like the holy grail, ive seen an unmolested all stock mint 90 CRX Si go for 12,000 bucks

That is Indeed very helpful, but I get the feeling you're talking about real life bc numbers $$ seem a bit off to me. Still useful info

How, exactly, do you exchange Credits (Cr.) for a car in GT5? I've been playing since launch, and have apparently missed something.

I think they are talking about real cars. Otherwise, you can't.

Well then I also need to cancel the insurance.

I smell sarcasm

There are no rare cars in GT5.

Jaguar XFR.

And yeah, I keep the rare cars stock. If I manage to get a second one I can tune that one, but the first car is always stock.

I was a out to say that it took me months to find Shelby GT350R. I say there are plants of rare cars and concepts.

Say that to the thousands of people who can't find a Chaparral 2J despite playing since launch.

The longest it has taken me to get a car i needed was 5 hours. Recycle tickets.

Simples

@ eran0004 if you find the Jaquar XFR a rare car then you dont know the game very well.

Its a prize car :dunce::dunce:

You do realize that technically nothing in the world is "rare" it's all up to perspective. Someone with a life will find it difficult to refresh for 5 hours and who knows maybe unluckly quit right before they get it and they wouldn't know. Most of it is by chance and might take weeks or months in worst cases

If you had the decency to fully read my post you dont need to refresh the UCD. For your sake I have highlighted in red the easy was to get any car you require (not inc region locked DLC) As I stated the longest time it took was 5 hour, thats longest not everytime on average it usually takes less than a hour. And if you read my previous post you will see I stated there are no rare cars.

To all other posters who are reffering to the thousands of people who cannot find a 2J since launch, well thats bollox, the game has been out 18 months now so no excuse really, Ive seen dozens in the UCD. If they spend 1 hour a week searching thats a hell of a lot more time than using the relevant ticket.

If your really struggling to get a 2J here is a quarenteed way to get it, Go win a level 23 ticket backup your save game open ticket, if you dont get it first time close game restore backup load and open again, there are 30 cars so it shouldnt take long. Even qicker way is get a 1970 ticket, this only has 12 cars so even quicker.

So dont come telling me there are thousands out there who cannot get one, there are ways to get any car without cheating if you want it.

^ This is why there's no rariety in cars, too many glitches and exploits.

The only cars that are truley rare are those you can't gift, like chromelines, stealth modes, etc. Then again people have probably managed a way around it.

Exactly.

But I dont think there is a way to get the stealths or chromlines other than signature, collectors edition or buying the codes and that is legal.

My PSN account was registered by my dad (who was born in 1970) so I'll get a 1970 ticket next month. Then I'll just farm the ticket until I get it.

I was only pointing out that the 2J isn't easy to acquire and therefore might be considered "rare" since it hardly ever pops up.

To answer the OP
Yes, people in marketplace are adamant about trading 0mile/0switch/0mod cars
So if you plan on trading, it might be easier to get what you want with 0/0/0 cars.
Online Car Dealership are a easy and effective way to beef up your garage.

About the rarity of certain car.
Yes, there is rare cars out theres.
Beside the Stealth and Chrome line already mentioned, theres the Edge Camaro, GT Academy special, Game Stop Nascar, theres also a couple glitched cars out there. I could always ask to define rarity, but its not even the subject.

If you want to use those "rare" cars for trading purposes, it's better to leave them untouched... Lots of people are obsessed with 0/0/0 cars...
