Sorry if questions like this aren't allowed, but I'm really having a hard time figuring out if MotoGP '08 is actually worth the money, since it has hardly any coverage, both in news and in reviews/forums. I downloaded the demo and I love it, but I want to ask some questions of those who have it.

1) Is it repetitive? I've read that it has 125, 250, and MotoGP classes, but are the bikes within each class different enough so that it won't get boring riding the different bikes?

2) Approximately how much content is there? Are there enough bikes and tracks to go around?

3) In your opinion, is it worth the money, or would it be better put towards one of the games with a more established story, like Far Cry 2 or Fallout 3?

I am not trying to be a smartass or anything like that , but the best way to answer your question is to go out and rent it for a few days.Only you can be the judge if you like it or not.

If ( and I say if ) , I told you it was the greatest thing since sliced bread and it belongs in your collection of games , it's a must have , etc. , etc. , etc., , and you go buy it and don't like it , your going to hate me , because you'll feel you wasted $60.00 , right ?

Seriously go rent it. BTW , the game is better than the freebie demo you can download from the PS3 store.

Hi, I have the game and I love it, I am a huge fan of motorbikes though, It has the full roster of tracks from the 08 season which you can find at the motogp website. it also has, as you say, both the 125cc and 250cc classes. These are quite different from the motogp class, ie a lot less power, higher corner speeds.

All in all, I would say if you like the "feel" of the game from the demo, and you are a fan of motogp get it!

On another note Fallout 3 is fantastic also, but I wouldn't bother with far cry 2!

In my humble opinion of course.

Both of you answered well enough to finalize my decision, and I'm gonna get it. I would rent it, but no places around here have it and I'm not gonna sign up for Gamefly just for one game. Both of you stated that it's similar, if not better than, the demo, which I loved.

I thought the demo was terrible. But, then again, I played with sim physics, crashed, and deleted it.

Just by looking at youtube videos, I can see the physics improvement over the THQ titles (quite obvious actually). I recommend it 👍

The game is only good with sim physics, the thing you have to realise is that with a motorbike braking distances go up and trail braking is very important so you don't lock the front on the way in. Try to get it upright early hard on the power with not much sliding and woosh feels great!

Well. It all depends on expectations and who you ask. If you go ask the longtime MotoGP fans hanging out at the publisher's site, bring your shades and your earplugs or you will fall off your chair from reading all the bitterness, anger, frustration, disappointment and complaining which is going on there. I have never seen the like of it.

The handling is great although not completely perfect. The bikes look great. The tracks look good. The singleplayer framrate is solid. The difficulty of AI is very challenging if you want it to be but there is still a human aspect to them in that they don't drive perfectly.

These are the most important aspects I say and you will not be disappointed in these. I think it is great fun and exiting to play MotoGP 08.

But there are loads and loads of issues that legitimately piss people off. Online is one major area if one is looking for something beyond multiplayer quickraces. I'm dissappointed in many ways but the game is still a keeper for me because the actual racing is exiting still. So go get it 👍

And yes, simulation handling is the only way to go I think. I haven't even tried arcade or advanced.

Sorry if this is off topic, but can anyone tell me how does MotoGP08 compare to SBK08? I'll buy one of them and they both cost 69,00 euros, and I heard that SBK is excellent.

I cant find the motogp.08 demo on playstation store:dunce:.any idea where it is ?. and like Hun,i would like to know which in your opinion is better.moto gp or sbk, or would i be better off getting the new FC game 👍

I've just been reading some reviews (mostly for the Xbox360, but I guess it must be the same game). If I understood them correctly, SBK has some big flaws. 1st - It's more sim than MotoGP; 2nd - No in-race music; 3rd - you have too much tuning options.

Great :sly:

PS - theewar, if you don't buy FC because you are buying a bike game, I won't take it personally :D

Well, I downloaded mine from the US store, but I'm sure it's in the EU store as well somewhere. Isn't there a way to sort all the games by alphabetical listing? Just check under M.

Last night I checked both stores (I made up a US account :D ) and didn't find it in either of them. Didn't look alphabetically, just by genre -> racing games

It might be in sports. I can assure you it's in the US store, though.

One more question before I get it (this isn't a deal breaker, just inquisitive) is I'm wondering if all of the tracks have a wet and night option? I have seen certain tracks at night, and I've seen a few wet, but can you have this option for all the tracks, or just a few? It'd be cool to race Laguna Seca while wet.

I have both SBK and MotoGP games and for me there is no comparison.

SBK is not a good game at all, MotoGP is, yet has some issues as mentioned above, th tuning lacks as does some of the multiplayer options.

All tracks have a wet option, only Qatar has a night race as that is the only race MotoGP runs at night.

The main thing I can say is that due to the dearth of good bike racing games this goes near the top, along with Tourist Trophy and TT Real Road racing Championship, but they are both PS2 games of course.

I'm wondering if this game has a online mode as well. If so, I'm thinking we may have a GTPlanet MotoGP World Championship series in the near future. ;)

It does have online, but from what I've heard it's terrible and doesn't really allow for any organized racing or anything. That's just what I've heard, though, so wait for someone who has it to post.

I look at SBK08 as more as a field test for Milestone. MotoGP 08 is a much better&complete game in comparison.

The only bad thing is that milestone took out the extensive tuning options that was in SBK08 and replaced it with a more simple system in motogp 08. Still the physics are the same for the most part.

I usually check the IGN score to get a better overview of how good the game is. Moto GP 08 was only a 5/10. But there are no reviews yet so I don't know the reason for the low score.

Its very simple, IGN thinks Moto GP 07 is a better game. Yes, the THQ version for the 360 :lol::lol:

They cry about the physics graphics and customization for the most part

I picked up S3K 08 yesterday, it was £19.57 in Asda.......that was the main reason LOL quite liking it to be honest cranked the settings up to full sim and it has a real nice physics enging, bike and driver graphics are good, traks are a little bland. For the money it's a steal LOL

The physics in THQ is terrible. The fact that that game has a higher score than MotoGP 07 and 08 only shows that the gametesting people have no clue.

How is the online?

Depends on how you look at it, it's obviously the best motorbike game on next generation systems but it has its flaws like sounds, track graphics, physics engine when comparing it to SBK2001, designing a paint shop for bikes, ext.

I cant wait another year for Milestone to get the hang of things, i need to race now :P

I tried online........set a room up after no rooms available on quick start......I thought I saw a few tumble weeds but that was about it LOL I'll try later when people are about. Getting to grips with it now and it's one of those feed the power on slowly afairs. lots of control in the corners using the throtle. nd brakeing hard can be "interesting" You really have to get your lines right and have a delicate touch with the controls, come ou of a corner and just nail the throtle will se the back end trying to flick you off followed by a battle to keep the front wheel on the tarmack for the new few hundred yards! If your into bikes this game (SBK 08) really gives you a good simulation of a track bike. ride it like an arcade bike it will kill you LOL

Bought MOTOGP.08 two days ago, played it through the 125 season and now i think i will bring it back and get something else instead:ill:.What have they done to the tracks?.They all seem a little flat and narrow. The bike and rider look ok,but the rest of it looks unfinished, and what's with the out of focus thing they have going on in the replays:yuck:.The graphics in the second motogp where way better than what they offer now,and that was ps2..:grumpy:
