nice to know I'm not the only one with P(FAT)S2 probs...except mine was mechanical rather than electronic. a tiny chunk broke off the load and eject track under the disk tray. I had to dissect and LEAVE the cover off to keep it working AND put the disks in.

*smirk* if my moviemaker worked...I'd post one. I'm on youtube without any tube :P
i keep forgetting our digital cam has vid capabilities...

Yes, well i've had a few problems:

I used my phone to upload em.
heh. i get that trying to use my ARmax disk occasionally (RSOD).
my cousin had a skinny unit that'd so the same thing...the lens needed cleaned.

if that's a PSX blackdisk (and an early one, from the look of it), or a PS2 bluedisk, I heard that the skinny units haver a hard time reading colour-coated disks. make sure there's no fingerprints on it, as well as no scratches. there's something about sony's laser products that wears out and gets fussy quick :P

polish the living crap outa the disk. I've found, after having a playstation system for 10 YEARS (!), the disks need to be spotless and mint shape ALL the time for the lasers to read them properly. have you cleaned the Lens ?

Well my buddies PS2 is around 6 years, we are still able to play Castlevania: Symphony of the Night(which I've had since I was 6 using the ancient PS1)and it works perfect. Didn't take care of the disk very well either. Sort of a scratchapalooza if you ask me. The game started lagging a bit so we cleaned the lens with some alcohol and now it works even better.

yeah. i noticed that a PS2fat can read PSX disks in dang near any condition. my BoF3, Armored Core and MediEvil disks are all playable again.

but you get even the slightest scratch on a PS2 disk, and POOF

Older slimline ps2's are very fussy when it comes to playing older games, especially ps1 games. Mine is SCPH 70002.

Turbo Lag, what model number is yours? (SCPH XX002 normally for Australian ps2's)

Dunno if it been mentioned but seeming your probably outa warranty then you should try to uncrew it and check inside for dirt and grime etc. I saw an xbox which was stacked of years of dust...it worked after that though lmao.
