Is Nintendo in need of a new pricing system?

Everyone loves Virtual Console. It is a great gift to mankind, and everyone knows it. However, with Microsoft recently launching Genesis Live Arcade, Nintendo's price strategy (as well as how the games are offered) looks to be in jeopardy.
I mean, look at the facts:
$5 gets you a Genesis game, with the same graphical upgrades as Virtual Console. It also gets you leaderboards, online multiplayer and the ability to save wherever (I didn't include achievements for obvious reasons).
On VC, $8 and Nintendo gives you a ROM. There is kind of large difference in value, yes?
Now, granted there are only 2 games out, so I'm not entirely sure how overall pricing will go, but it looks to me like Genesis Live Arcade is a serious volley at Nintendo's advantage in Virtual Console.
So, again, is a new pricing system necessary for Nintendo?

The Sonic XBLA game doesn't have multiplayer, and I don't think it has the ability to save wherever you want either.

The Virtual Console doesn't needs to revamp its pricing... yes it's a bit expensive, compared to the competition ($5 for arcade classics, $10 for original games on XBLA, $6 for PS1 games on PSN), but the only way XBLA will be competition and steal downloads from VC is if mostly everyone has a Wii and a 360. And those people aren't exactly the majority. People will continue to buy Sonic off VC because that's their only option.

Why buy Virtual console games for 5 or 8 bucks when you can get the cartridge for like 20 cents?

That was my main point.

Because Sonic 2 (or even better, Ecco) looks effing awesome in 480p. The only major problem is that Sega keeps releasing compilations.

Yup, and the Wii is selling like made, considering both MS and Sony are looking at price cuts to try to deal with the sales rate of the Wii.

I think its just fine, and Omnis, try to find a properly working Genesis and Cartridges is harder than it sounds. Nintendo systems have held up ALOT better than most Sega ones I have found.

I guess I'm biased because I have my mint 16-bit genesis with almost a hundred games in a case in my closet.

Genesis carts always work for me more consistently then my NES cartridges..... and they made the Genesis 3 up until '98, so those aren't too old. :)
