Is Pikes Peak Hill Climb being televised live this year?

The title basically says it all. I was just wondering if any U.S. channels (Dish Network) would have the main events televised. I made plans to go this year, but things fell through and now I can't.

I swear I read that NBC was doing it this year, but the wording of the article was confusing and said something about a special on tv a week earlier.

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Hey i'm interested in this as well. I would love to go someday but television is good enough.
 
looking at the event's official web site, it won't be broadcasted live, but it will have a twenty minute feature aired on July 16. However it probably won't be like your typical racing broadcast from what I'm gathering.

On a related note (I figure there's no need to make a new thread about it as the event is rather small and we are talking about spectating), I'm going for the first time this year and I have two questions to ask.
I'd like to know, first of all, where I should watch from. I'm planning on taking video, so I'd like to have a decent view, but I would also like to avoid having to deal with too much cold if possible (so basically I'd like to stay below the tree line if I can). If anybody that's been there before has any good recommendations, I'm all ears.
I'm also wondering if there's anything else in particular that I might want to know as a first timer.
 
Devils playground is the best place to watch...and everyone knows it. Big crowds. In the years I've been, its never been unbearable temperature wise. However, that high up, it is easy to get altitude sickness if you are exerting yourself a lot. My favorite place to watch is from the hill on the outside of bottomless pit. Very fast part of the track with astonishing views of both the cars and the scenery. This will be my 4th year.

Be SURE to go to fan fest on friday. Last year I got to meet Monster and Millen, as well as Bill Caswell and Paul Dallenbach. This year Gronholm should be there as well. Lastly, it is well worth it. One of the coolest events I've ever been to, that's why I make it a point to go every year.

oh wow. Devil's Playground looks like the way to go, then. If you see me, I'll be the guy with the red/blue PPIR hat on, provided I can remember to wear it.

I really wish I could go to the fan fest, but my scheduling won't work with it. Friday I'm going to be just arriving to Loveland to see some family from a long drive from here in North Carolina.

About what time should we get to the toll gates? We'd prefer to not have to wake up too early, but we want to make sure we're where we need to be before the race starts.

You want to be at the tollgates....around 3:30-4AM. You can sleep in your car until they open the road, but people seriously start arriving at midnight. I'm going to be waving a Japanese flag for Monster probably. Also know that you have to buy tickets. You did buy tickets correct? Around 7AM they close the mountain off all together, and you cannot leave until the event is done.
