Is Pit maintenance mileage triggered only?

Was wondering if there were other factors to the maintenance period for cars. Dose slamming the car into a barrier reduce the time before the chassis has to be maintained? Dose using NOS tare the engine up faster? So far i have noticed that the cars start loosing rigidity at 500 miles and oil starts to get thin after 100 miles.

They're suspiciously round numbers for it not to be just a fixed mileage trigger.

Just my opinion, mind you. ;)
