Can the Audi R10 TDi Race Car be competitive in the Indy 500 race?

I would like to drive it in an open top lmp (like the competition) and preferably a premium car. That leaves only the Audi.
The standard stats for the car look like it's going to finish last...
It doesn't have to be an easy win, I just want to know whether or not it is possible to win in the Audi and if it needs some tuning to be competitive.
Yes, I could buy the car and try, but it is kinda expensive for that.

Thanks in advance!

I did an oil change on mine... I don't think I did anything else.

Lift the downforce off a bit too.

keep your line clean and the audi should demolish the race... my R10 is my workhorse i love the car.. i have an excellent setup on it that the Sauber cant touch..

Yes.

Also: not only is the Indy 500 a surprisingly fun race (done it three times now), it also rewards you with the awesomely beautiful Jag XJ13!

@02civicsi: some ppl don´t wanna know what rewards they get for winning an event. you should respect that. kind of childish you posted the hole trophylist in this thread. i actually read the first 3 lines and i didn´t want to know what the gold reward for b license is. keep things like this on your deathstar please. part of the netiquette, too, i think..

Do you enjoy driving in circles if you're lost or are you keen enough to stop & ask for directions?

The deathstar comment gave me a smirk, well done.

did you cheat at monkey island 1? :)

How is knowing what car you are going to receive defined as cheating? Its not as if knowing the car is somehow breaking any logical laws.

some people like to explore. its ok to post this, but maybe under a different topic. takes the fun out of the game somehow..

Hmm, for some reasons I burn my tyres too fast. On the other hand I need to push the car to keep up with the competition.
I was on a 6 pit 'strategy' compared to 4 pits for the other cars. By taking just enough fuel to last to the next stop I might make my stops short enough to compensate for the 2 extra stops, but it isn't what I would call easy.
I could try and be a bit smoother.
Did about 70 laps, then quit. Will try when I have time.

Did you all do this on soft tyres?

6 pit, soft tyres & shortpit for tyres since the petrol takes the longest in a pit stop.

I won by 6 laps IIRC. It's probably the easiest endurance race.

i used soft tyres was pitting every 25laps and used less than 60L of fuel in those 25 laps 54 IIRC but i would load up 60 that i do remember. just an oil change, downforce front and back set to about 25% on the AUDI's range. On the straights i would get up to about 220-225mph turns at about 210mph. full throttle easily through the first 12 laps if not 16 just turn left turn left turn left, smooth smooth smooth. Won by a lot without worrying at all. R10 great car!!!

BTW im one of those people who doesnt know what the reward cars are for the events. i've spoiled it a few times by being on the forums someone will shout out you get this at this level, or this car after finishing this event. but i was in the dark for about 97% of the rewards. all i have left is 5 races combined a and b spec; golding IC-10 and one more license test i cant remember right now.

Golly, found it hard as all get out to do it with the R10. All I'd done was put tran to 242 & stuck acceleration in the LSD to 60. Used softs. Could'nt do it no matter how hard I tried.

Picked up from forums to switch either ABS or ASM off. Decided ABS off worked best for me and from memory won by a couple of laps with my above settings. Assisists on at Indy don't always assist you.

On Indy: ABS off and *especially* TCS off is essential for winning.

I also recommend testing beforehand what the minimum downforce is you can get away with as this has a huge impact on your topspeed and accelleration.
