Is the AUP missing something??

Hey bosses. I was just perusing the AUP because of a post I've seen where a member has said he is on his 6th account. Now in the past you guys have banned people who have multiple accounts and this is logged down in the BUL, but when looking at the AUP, I see no evidence of it being against the AUP.

Could it be that it was accidentally omitted from the rules when it was being modified at one time, making it actually okay to have multiple accounts?? I know the long term members such as myself know to only have 1 account, or has it changed so I can have 2 or more accounts??

It's a combination of these:

Making further accounts to post from is an attempt to disguise the origin of those posts - you, and you're responsible for everything you post under any account. If you've been banned already, the new account is an attempt to bypass features of the forum software - a ban.

Thanks for clarifying that for me Famine. I have this feeling that it needs to be put out in bold to stand out on it's own rather than be the combination of those things.....something like "multiple accounts will result in a ban" or along those lines.

That's Jordan's call but, to be honest, the rules are short, simple and already cover that eventuality.

What about putting it in the Common Sense rules in the Rumble Strip?
Although not many new members venture out of the GT Section, and I guess it is common sense to use one account

The purpose of the AUP is to enumerate things which are always prohibited. Special situations and cases may arise where multiple accounts are useful or needed (I have several testing accounts myself and so do some other staff members). I prefer the flexibility of having leeway in some "rules" such as this.

Anywas if it was put in the AUP what's the point? They've already broken the rules and have nothing to lose from making another account plus they're hardly going to read the AUP after they got banned. I'm not sure if this is possible but a good idea in my opinion would be to IP ban the 'Create Account' page if possible. If not, then the mods and Jordan will just have to put up with it.

True, because I know the WRSFetchBot is another staff members multiple account, but that's for proper GTP business, and you can have 20,000 accounts because you own the site Jordan.
