I hope this thread isn't already posted.

I found out that the brake controller not really necessary for some of my drift machines, like my s15 and few others.I was wondering if real life pros use them and do you guys equip them all the time.

An interesting link about brake physics on GT4, and their comparison to real life. (Rather Lengthy, and possibly miss-leading)

More importantly, this link is a direct link to Brake Controller information

A thread focused on the use of the Brake Controller for drift purposes.

But i believe that somehow these links dont answer your question directly, Ill be honest in saying i do equip the brake controller on all of my automobiles but don't see much benefit or improvement, im just ignorant in thinking most of the settings i tweak on GT4 dont have benefit on the car, and its mearly your technique thats the biggest benefit. Others will disagree.

I can't be certain D1 drivers and drifters alike equip them, i presume if its anyone, it would be rather wealthy factory's equiping the controllers to their cars. Others can clarify, as i have basically no knowledge on the subject.

I don't think it is necessary...
But It can help change the braking characteristics of cars to your liking...It's all preference when it comes to settings...👍

Learn to drift without it then add it and adjust it accordingly...there are other threads that should tell you how to induce over or understeer by using different settings...

For my tastes...I like to set the brake anywhere between 3-12 evenly between front and rear. I like to tune the brakes by the sound of the tires under hard full braking. I like to hear the tires struggle just a bit for traction, yet still have lively control of the car.👍 As I have found too strong a setting just locks up the wheels, and makes the car less responsive. 👎

BUT stock brake settings are fine....you don't NEED the controller...It just allows you to fine tune your cars to what you feel is best. Everyone might have different settings due to differences in style etc...there is no one ultimate setting.:dopey:

I've made different experiences with a brake controller. On some cars, it totally ruins the braking and whichever setting, and the car already breaks perfectly without it. On some cars, it improves braking dramatically. But that really depends on the specific car.

I've done that dking ever since I got my dfp and thanks for explaining now I notice the big difference to my eyes I just installed one on my sil80 and when I side brake i get more over steer than my rps13 without it because i put the same suspension setting from the rps13 to the sil80.

I install one most of the time (just because I tend to buy all parts before tweaking), but I don't usually need to tune it. In most cases it's not necessary, but there are a few cars that can benefit from it... especially if you use a lot of braking in your drifts.

When I do tune it, I tend to set the front to 2-3 and the rear to 6-12, depending on the car.. though in 90% of my cars it's either not installed or at the default 3/3 setting.

I always add one, then i usually tune it so there is a slight front bias, some of my cars don't need the original settings changed or the part to be added because i like the setup it has (Subaru Impreza version 6)
