The PSP GO is starting high, as the PS3 did, but it'll drop down to about half when people complain and sales drop.

Do you feel that the PSP go is overpriced as the PSP go sells at $249 and the PS3 at $299. So you pretty much pay an extra $50 for a Blu Ray Player, 120GB HDD, HD gaming and heaps more features.

True, Sony makes a loss on each PS3 console sold, unlike the PSP go. But do you feel that the PSP go is overpriced?

I think I might just need to get my PSP Go or PS3 Slim outside the country, if I DO end up getting them.

PSP Go = 250 EUROS

PS3 Slim = 299 EUROS.....

US prices

PSP Go = $249 ~ 174.70 EUROS

PS3 Slim = $299 ~ 209.78 EUROS

Thats almost 100 euros difference!!! I dont get why they do that and dont keep differences in currency in mind???

The PSP Go is wayyyy over priced. The UMD drive in the old PSP's where the most expensive part. Now that there not in there, and replaced with cheaper memory, the price goes up? and way up. $50 cheaper then the PS3 doesnt not look go for it.

We are comparing a hand help to a console? If thats the case the Iphone is over priced when you can spend $50 more on an HDTV. See> Two products, two different purposes. I can't haul my ps3 to work on my down time. Anyway :).

THe PSP GO is not the second coming of PSP and again comparing it to the price of the PS3 is pointless when there PSP300 cost $170. The Go is aimed at those who want nothing more than digital distribution with out the unnecessary umd drvie and the xtra cost is goes into the 16GB memory and blu tooth. The PSP Go is not the flagship model the PSP300 is and its not going anywhere. The price will go down when they need it to.

Psp 3000 is still $170. But to answer the question. Yes. its $30-50 too much.

I was unaware "digitally savvy" was the same thing as "financially idiotic." I consider myself "digitally savvy" and I could put together the arguably-better-in-every-way 3000 that does everything (sans Bluetooth) that the Go does for $35 less.

I disagree with that notion. To be overpriced it has to be compared to something, and based on its closest competitors it seems to me to be priced quite well.
I'm not against a price drop, of course, but I hardly think its overpriced.

+1. How exactly is the PSP3000 overpriced? It is the same price as the DSi(or is it cheaper seeing as currently the DSi is not bundled with any games here but the PSP is) which it superior to hardware wise, therefore costs more. One could argue that its price is also justified compared to the DS Lite as well.

Only way I could see the PSP being overpriced would be if all handhelds were.

As for the PSP Go... It is overpriced depending what you compare it to. Compared to the ipod touch it is priced just right. In Australia they are only about $20-30 different in price with the same memory size.

In terms of pricing structure however with the PSP, it would appear to be overpriced. Considering game bundles, PSP 3000 is $250 AUD. Matching it in flash memory to the Go would cost me an extra $80 if i don't shop around. That brings the price to $330 AUD. The PSP Go however will cost me $120AUD more and bar bluetooth I am effectively getting an equal device in a different form factor. I don't believe the Go should cost more than the 3000, but considering each devices benefits they should at least be priced the same if one was to go and "upgrade" the 3000 to the same memory capacity.

+2 You are both right. However he may just mean in a sense that his income(where ever from) has to go to non gaming things. I'm just guessing, its the only wayit could actually be over priced.

Here in New Zealand a PSP 3000 + Sony 16GB Memory Stick is more expensive than a PSP Go. I don't know if this is the same in other countries.

Just Games = PSP 3000
Games, Music, Photos, Videos = PSP GO
