Well, the whole reason for the Skyline GT-R, being production based touring car racing, has now disappeared. Given this and the overwhelming presence the GT-R name plate has on its own, I think it's a natural progression for Nissan to take the GT-R nameplate out on its own, separate from the Skyline range.
Times change, boys!
I'm sure the next GT-R will be awesome - it just won't be a Skyline anymore.

Because they sell more Camrys, Corollas and Sentras obviously.
Give me a black R33, please.

Maybe Chevy will remove the "Corvette" name from the C7's when the come out or Dodge remove the Viper name from the GTS and RT.
It's wrong and is like putting an elevator into an outhouse. Buy hey times change. Right.

Why are you judging a car that's not even in production yet?
As far as I'm concerned, the only people that can adequately judge whether the R35 lives up to the GT-R name are the people who a) already own at least one Skyline and b) have driven a production R35 GT-R. And even then I'd look for more than just comments on the styling.
Show of hands... who as done both a) and b)? How many punters even qualify for a)?

Oh please - if you're going to concoct such a churlish response, at least use the 'roll eyes' smilie. Please explain how this is like putting an elevator into an outhouse - what an absurd analogy......... and your're quibbling over a name?

Well M spec you're right. I don't own a Skyline, and no I havn't driven a car that hasn't been produced yet and it's kinda sad that you thought I was talking about the car, that wasn't produced yet![]()

but anyway, that isn't going to stop me from talking about it. I just hope the R35 lives up to the GTR title and chances are it will. [/B]

This is a poll based on personal appeal, and lets look at an example the Ford Mustang conecpt it was coined as a conecpt but it is going into full productionboth vehicles look the same and both probebly handle the same. If you think that the future R35 does not look or handle like the next generation R35 then thats like a company coming out with an SUV conecept then later building an economy car.
Ps. Try to stay on topic guys i just want your opinions on the skyline

Childish? No not really, as it was a direct comparison to what you said earlier in the thread in your as "natural progression in the seperation of the Skyline name from the GTR". I was merely making reference to what would be equivalent of GM or Dodge/Chrysler doing the same with their super car. So it wasn't meant to be sarchastic at all hence the absence of any type of emotioncon or smilie. That would have only been childish to do so, and a way to invite a responce to what you have just made would you not agree?

Oh, sorry my bad. I have no idea what "churlish" is and only thought it was an internet way of saying "childish" I am still not remotely clued up to the slang used by NZ and AU citizens. I've only lived in NZ for 5 years![]()
