Is there a bias against TVR or do they just suck?

I only recently got into the GT world of racing fun (by borrowing GT2 from a friend. It rocked and my Dodge Charger was just killer).

So, after that I went a bought a PS2 and GT3. Now, I was sad to see how few cars were available in GT3 as compared to GT2 but I am leaning to live with it, which leads me to my question.

I am a muscle car fan and a US/UK car fan. I truly dislike most Japanese cars honestly. GT3 is kinda short on decent US cars (Mustang, Vette Z06 & Viper are the only three I like). However, GT3 has come very cool UK/Euro cars.

Which leads me to this (sorry for the rambling). The TVR cars look awesome and have great HP and light weight. However, in viewing many of the threads here, I noticed that no one ever lists the TVR cars as favorites or even as good cars.

I only own one car right now (Mustang almost fully modded). I am looking at my next purchase and was debating between the Vette Z06 or one of the TVR's (at least till I can afford the Aston Martins).

Do the TVR's really suck, or is it a hidden secret that they rock , but no one talks about it???

The TVRs are great cars, and are capable of astonishing speed (even stock). The thing is that they tend to be very difficult to drive well, and most people don't seem to have the attention span to conquer them (myself included, to some extent). They take constant attention and a very fine hand on the controls to really be utlized fully.

But they do look and sound great. I'm trying to get more practice in my Tuscan.

I would say the tvr's are good cars all around, but in a comparison with a vette, I would choose a vette.

Vette's cost less and can keep up just as well.

The only thing about the tvr's is that they do have "hidden charactoristics" which allow them to excell in the hands of a great driver.

If this is gonna be a choice for your second car... get the vette, worry about the tvr when your deeper into the game.

I love the TVR's, I find the tuscan has great handling and is very easy to make faster, probably the most stable RWD road car in my opinion. The Griffifth is a bit of a beast, very light chassis + torquey V8 = wheelspin and oversteer, but a bit of run and settings helps it out no end. I can't wait to get around to tweaking my griffith. The speed 12 i have really havent found a use for, but it is a real monster.

Although I would rather have a Cerebra than any of the TVR's in the GT3 showroom.
Oh well next time around we should get the Tamora, T350c, Tuscan R/S and hopefully the Cerebra 4.5 (viper eater).

I love the TVR's too. Especially my orange 1000hp+ Speed 12 which is quite easy to handle (no TCS or ASM either).

I guess everyone already knows that most people like them so feel it is pointless to make a new thread about them?

Out of TVR cars I think I like the Griffith 500 best. The Tuscan 6 doesn't handle as well as Griffith. And the Speed 12 is a beast, but it's so clumsy I don' enjoy driving it.

Well, you can take this from me as someone who is completely unbiased towards or against the TVR's.

The Speed 6 is possibly one of the best FR cars in the game. It has GREAT power, and handles VERY well for a 600+hp FR car. Thats all I'll say about it because I think you get the point.

The Griffith is very loose and too light. The handling is nothing spectacular, and it is a pain in the ass to drive. Personally, I dont think this car should have anything over 450hp to remain civilized and under control. Its not a very good car IMO. Although some people say the complete opposite.

The Speed 12 is EXTREMELY light and powerful. You will be roasting the tires up until 3rd gear. It needs sticky tires, and soft springs and a fairly high ride height. It only weighs something like 2,000lbs and it has over 800hp. The NA 1 mod is totally overkill and seems to add more low end torque than Hp, which is NOT what the Speed 12 needs!

After a bit of practice its possible to keep the Speed 12 under control, and once you've done that you will be able to beat alot of cars due to the fact that it has that crazy power/weight ratio, but its still not very fun. And it only wins races based on its Hp, the car itself is nothing special.

TVR is much better than most US cars such as the viper and vette - no offence to any american's but the only US cars I like is the old viper and the Ford GT40
