Is there a connection between slipstream and increase of BHP?

I noticed that some of my cars have got more BHP simply by racing. As far as I have noticed this happens when I have driven a close race against another car and used a lot of slipstream. Latest example was just a couple of hours ago when I was having a go at the Scharzwald League B (B-Spec event). My BMW M5 was in second place during the entire race slipstreaming just behind the leading SLS AMG. Before the race my M5 had 570 BHP and after the race it had 572 BHP. Is there a connection between this BHP increase and using slipstream for a longer period of time? I know that oil will cause the BHP to drop over time but BHP increasing just by driving is new to me.

I think a new car takes ~300 miles to "break in" the engine completely. HP goes up gradually during the break-in period, and it maintains that level of hp (with oil changes as needed) until about 10,000 miles.

Completely unrelated to drafting. You could be in first place (not drafting anyone) and your engine would still gain power as it gets broken in. It's purely based on miles.
