Is there a US demo?

For some reason I can't find this issue addressed already. My friend owns a PS3, and I do not (college budget). Anyway, I wanted him to look into getting the game because I've always loved the GT series and he is rather impressed by GT5P as well. Regardless however, I don't want the guy to drop 40 bucks or whatever on a game he's never tried. Is there a demo available at this point?
 
There was a Japanese demo some months ago, but it has been removed...
The only thing close is GT:HD...

Yeah, I had heard about the Japanese demo but my friend was unwilling to do the work to get it. I figured it would make sense for them to release a US demo, but apparently they don't think so.

This sucks. Maybe if I tell him I'll pay for half of it, he'll buy the full game :P

Yes there is a demo and it is called Grand Turismo 5: Prologue.

Have you read any threads in on GTP? Prologue is a demo and the US version will be released next month

Well, I think he means free demos, not the ones you buy... Also... Demos never include 70+ cars with over 30 events... But that's just my opinion.
