Is there a way to stop TC going back to 5??

Looked through some threads and couldn't find an answer. This is very annoying to have to manually turn off every time I load up the game, and sometimes I forget and end up running a race with it on which I don't like to do.

Is there a way to have it always set to off??

Also on a slightly unrelated note, why does the transmission randomly change to auto sometimes without me changing it?? Very annoying as well.

Your TC setting will stay with a particular car, provided you set it from the pre race menu, not the in game RA menu.
For special events where the car is provided for, it will stay with whatever you set it to for a particular session, but need to be reset each session.

I've found that your transmission will reset to auto after you drive a kart (or any of the other auto/CVT vehicles)
 
AFAIK, the TC settings are individual to each vehicle. Once you set it off, it stays off. The transmission settings have only reverted themselves to automatic for me when I jump in a kart, haven't found a way to change that so it permanently stays manual.
