So I logged onto today, found that one of my obsessions, a 2001 Suzuki Gsx was in the Online dealership. Without hesitation I bought it and decided to show it off to my friends in our lounge.

Minutes later...I was driving around in free race showing them the car when out of no where, my screen goes black and I was sent straight to my XMB. I carried on and logged back into the lounge. 10 minutes later..exact same result. Black screen of doom, then straight to the XMB.

By now I was worried it was the game disc or the console itself. We all hop into our ZR1 RM's to do some racing...perfectly fine. Ran a full 25 minute race and was never kicked. Much longer than a session in the Suzuki. We then did go karts, random cars, rally cars...all worked flawlessly and I was never kicked from the lobby. Is anyone else having an issue when racing this car?

No, not at all, and I use that car alot.

It sounds like a connection to your Internet, sometimes on GT5 when you lose connection it will send you back to your gtlife, main menu, I've had It crash back to the xmb maybe once or twice also :/ .. I see your in Michigan, I'm right below you in Indiana and we're getting some crazy a$$ storms so that could be it? I don't know? :/

Well, I haven't raced in the Suzuki, but I have been kicked back to the XMB menu after an enduro shuffle race :indiff:. I'm quite scared to use my Suzuki now...

You were showing off to your friends with a car you got from the OCD? Maybe that's how the curse started :)

I tested the car in my lounge, and nothing surprising happened... though I was alone, visible damage was set to off, and I wasn't using a mic.

I would be more inclined to think you were having a problem with the lounge or someone in it that day... rather than to blame a particular car.

That said, I always keep "visible damage off" in lounges/lobbies, because I've heard that people testing it have said the visible damage on is more likely to cause connection issues. It's particularly the case apparently when premium & standard cars are mixed. The fact that this car is open top... could've been that people were "showing off" by doing things getting a lot of visible damage, and there was a mix of premium & standard cars on track. And people chatting on wireless mics.
???
This is just guessing of course.
But I just don't think it would have to do with this one particular car.
But rather a mixture of issues.

It's a reasonable car, on a fast circuit, but a handful on a twisting one!

Maybe its your disc or your hard drive.

Well, My car was pretty beat up.

I bet it was the issue of "visible damage"!
Visible Damage is well known to be something that adds to the likelihood of connection issues.

It very well could be that because it's open top, it's a bit more prone to causing problems when there's visible damage. I don't know if that makes a difference, for sure, but there must be a reason that a lot of convertibles are not top-down for racing in the game. (Which I think is unfortunate.)

Very true!!
