The 2011 Isle of Man Tourist Trophy starts May 30 and goes into June 10. This 37-mile Snaefell Mountain Course is an immense challenge as well as immensely dangerous. I have full respect for those who take on these challenges though I am not a fanatic of extremely long closed-circuit courses (racing them, at least). Just like this year's Indy 500, this year's Isle of Man TT is the 100th event of what has long been one of the greatest motor racing events of any kind in any discipline. I've opened the floor here for discussion of this year's activities.

Good luck to all riders, teams, and other people racing or heading to this year's events. More info on this year's Isle of Man TT can be found at http://www.iomtt.com . Any thoughts on this year's races and activities?

After recently seeing the amazing Closer To The Edge: TT3D movie I'm really looking forward to this years TT week. Fortunately in the UK ITV4 have secured the rights to show it until 2013 and have already announced there will be a programme on each night at 9pm next week starting on Monday with Hutchy's Historic (2010) TT Year, Tuesday is Murray Walker's TT Memories, Wednesday is Isle of Man TT: An Insider's Guide then Thursday has the TT 2011 Preview Show.

I'm hoping Guy Martin will come good this year and win at least one race, now that would be summat wouldn't it chief..by eck!

Good idea for a thread but I'm sure the 100th anniversary was a while ago.
EDIT: the first event was 1907.

The TT (and most motorsport) didn't run during the first and second world wars which would explain the difference.

I was just going to say... I don't think it's the 100th anniversary, it's the 100th event.

Okay... I made the edits to the Intro. When multiple people mention the same error, you need to make changes to ensure accuracy. That's why I try to make sure my blogs (for those of you who visit and read my blogs) are as accurate as possible.

Again- I have so much respect for everyone who takes part in this 37-mile course racing at the limit on two wheels (or in sidecars). Best of luck to everybody.

Hi,

I live in the Isle of Man and it's the best time of the year!

It's the 100th anniversary of the TT being run on the current mountain course.

They make the mountain section of the course one way for the general public which is always good fun.

This is an amazing event that one day I'd love to go to... Ill be recording every time it's on TV.

To all the riders, ride fast and safe! although the two really don't go together well.

Unfortunaly i can't watch TT on TV here...
Maybe in my cousin's house i was able to watch. I can only see it trought YouTube.
But Neal, this movie will be realeased in DVD or i can download it ? It's really interesting.
