I'm not quite sure where this would go exactly, but I only have the issue when I play online in GT5 so I'm posting it here.

I use the Official Stereo Headset and whenever I'm in an online lobby I'm heard perfectly by everyone else when I'm not on track or stationary on track. It's once I start to drive that the issue shows itself and I am either not heard at all or heard intermittently. My PS3 is DMZ'd so I don't know how a port could be blocked and searching for the same issue on google brings up nothing.

I use the headset whenever I play online and never have issues with other games and chatting in online lobbies.

I'm open to any suggestions that might correct this issue. But, it's definitely not a headset issue as it works fine except for that one instance when I'm driving on track.

I use this headset and have not experieced any problems.

I've raced with people who's mics sound fine in the room but when the race starts the mic starts to break up. I don't think wired headsets have this problem. Could it be that the PS3, GT5 and bluetooth have too much to do which causes problems?

I wonder if setting the mic quality lower when setting up the room would help your situation.

The new Wireless Stereo Headset doesn't use bluetooth, it uses a radio frequency. Besides that, both GT and I use the bluetooth headset and it works perfectly.

Setting the mic quality could maybe have an affect, though.

Thanks, I could have sworn they were bluetooth. I finally found a review that said they were 2.4Ghz.

It still sounds like a bandwidth issue since it happens only when racing.

Could be. I haven't tried the headset after opening the ports that were suggested.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was a bandwidth issue and the stereo headset requires a higher standard of chat quality for races.
