Issues with pop ups

Hello, everyone, I'm new here, and I have been having some issues with pop-ups. I disabled pop ups in my Options page under My GTPlanet, but they still come up. I have to use the GTP Lite skin to stop them :confused: and even then they still sometimes come up. Is this a problem with the site or my browser? And if you know how to fix it, then please tell me. PM me(preffered) or post here.
 
Can you post a picture of these 'pop-ups'? As long as you have them disabled, they should not appear unless they are coming from another source or another website you are visiting.

So it's just like a regular pop up, exept the pop up blocker blocks it, but then the pop up copies itself until it gets past the blocker. That is what I think happened. It's not cominf from another site because I have no other tabs or minimized programs. I HAVE checked that the pop up blocker is turned on three times.
 
Eeek Pop-up's are annoying, especially when you haven't went through one in a long time, like me..

I never get pop-ups though...
 
Ah, you are using GTP Lite. I'll have to take a look at our templates, this must have slipped through when I recently upgraded the forums.

Ok, thanks. I also noticced that it happens more oftenly when I use the default skin too...
 
I have the same problem of a pop-up slipping through whenever I open the page in Firefox. IE and Safari blocked everything.
 
grrr.... Now it's nonstop. :banghead: Every time I click a link to the next part of the site it comes up with a pop up. I'm running a spy sweeper, maybe I've got sme spyware leaked into my computer.

Seriously though, have popups been 'disabled' on GTPlanet now for non-Premium members? If so, thats good, nothing is more annoying than 74 million windows popping up in front of whatever you're trying to read.
 
No, they haven't been 'disabled', but the same visitor should never see a pop-up more than once every 24 hours. Of course, that's in a normal situation - many types of over-zealous security software could block the cookies required to make that happen.

I get them two or three times a day. If I check in 8 hours since I was last here, there seems to be about a 50-50 chance I'll get one. If it's been twelve hours or more, it's a certainty. And in my case it's definitely not a matter of over-zealous security software.
 
I realize that non-premium members have to contend with adverts, - but this one makes the site unbrowsable with IE.

Needless to say it doesn't matter if you click cancel or Ok.
And since it's a dialog it is impossible to get back to gtplanet without visiting that damn site. Killing IE in taskmanager seems to be the only way to avoid it and then reloading gtplanet and HOPE it doesn't pop again seems to be the only way. I've had it 3 times today.

I would be very surprised if such a dialog box spawned from the advertising code here on GTPlanet. I believe such an issue would suggest that you may have other malware affecting your computer or your browser. If you can prove otherwise, or if anyone else has experienced the problem, please let me know.
 
I'm quite confident that it is comming from gtplanet, - but you had me sweating for that hour it took to thorougly scan my system.
There is a Trojan causing the same symptoms, - but I don't have it. And I've only seen it while browsing gtplanet.

Seems to be directed at non-US / Canada users (or hiding from US/Canada site admins ;) )

I can't tell which ad causes it because it shrinks the window to bare minimums.
 
Hmmm, that is especially bad because I'm not getting paid to display those kinds of pop-ups...and those pay much higher than traditional ads. Thanks for those links, I'll contact my ad providers about the issue.
