All games are fine on my PS3 except GT5. It's crap, it just wont load. Usually makes it as far as the GT5 logo or on a good day the icons screen where you choose to play Arcade or whatever.
I tried deleting the game data file but no difference, it's been like this for months now. I have the old PS3, the cars DLC etc, disc is immaculate so what's up?

Valuable contribution. Please don't hesitate to not bother next time.

How if he can't even get there???

He can:

Usually makes it as far as the GT5 logo or on a good day the icons screen where you choose to play Arcade or whatever.

First disconnect the console from the internet (don't sign out - disconnect it). Then load the game up. When you get into the game, go to Options - which is on the main screen, not requiring GT Life to load - go to the bottom and use the Clear Network Cache utility to clear the network cache. You might also like to use the other utilities to repair your install and suchlike.

While disconnected it should work fine anyway, but you can now try reconnecting it. If it's still playing up you might be looking at a network issue (GT's a bit fussy with that).

I guess you're talking about the Cache for the internet in the PS3 menu???

Famine's already covered what I was going to say next which was disabling the internet connection and clearing the browser cache. Disabling from the internet disconnects you from the PD servers which is the thing causing the not loading problem.

Have you tried making a different PSN account to load GT5? It could be your "Game Save" file. The one that holds your progress.

I've tried everything but nothing works for me I also have the old ps3 but it seems to be the online servers that are the problem I haven't played gt5 online for over 6 months because it's just not worth the wait and single is pretty crap

As a few have said before, try cleaning the disc. It may look clean but if you or anyone else smokes, trust me, its dirty. I was having the same problem and through the process of elimination, I found this to be the problem. Especially if you keep your disc in your PS3 like I do.

Did all that thanks, true as long as it's offline it's ok but as soon as I sign in it sticks at the GT5 logo. I even uninstalled the data that makes it load quicker (tracks etc) then reinstalled.
It just doesn't want to work, thinking it maybe cuz of the DLC I bought cuz it's since then that it doesn't work (buyers beware!).

Network issue? I don't understand, everything else in my home /other games have no problem so why this one game? I'm guessing it's just bad Dev and am thinking of selling the game on Ebay and let some other mug put up with it </rant>

No, it's just less tolerant of certain things. To use an analogy, Internet Explorer will load just about any page on the internet, whereas Firefox and Chrome (other browsers are also available) might take a dislike to them. It's not because IE is better, but because IE tolerates sloppy and bad code, but Firefox and Chrome don't.

Knowing how you set your PS3 up would be a help here. Mine is wired, with a static IP (assigned in the console settings and in my router settings) and set to the router Demilitarised Zone (DMZ), giving it a NAT Type 2. GT5 rarely hangs for more than a couple of seconds on start up.

I don't know anything about all that techy stuff and neither does my 8 year old nephew but he can play C.O.D online so I dont see why GT5 should take a genious, it's a 🤬 rip off. I'll bin it. :grumpy:

Alternatively, we could get it to work. It's relatively easy.

Let's start with first principles. How does your PS3 connect to the internet? Is it plugged into the internet with a cable (wired) or not (wireless)?

People give up too easily with certain things.

Ooh ya, then the bashing against the product begins because they don't want to try.

To the OP, why don't you try disconnecting, COMPLETELY, from the internet on the PS3. Remove/delete the connection in the settings. And re-do the connection. This will give you a fresh a start.

Look here on adding a new connection.

Also, a lot of people don't have their internet/wireless connection properly configured and causes them problems. I rarely get problems, maybe 1 out of 10 times but due to not clearing cache or ps3 being on too long.

Maybe your conection (wired or wireless) isn't the correct for your internet speed, or you have lots of cache memory, that happened to me and I just deleted the cache memory :)

wifi, have no problem with any other game

Okay, you might like to try having it wired as that is slightly more stable. If the PS3 is less than 30 feet in a straight line and two walls or less away from the router, go wired. I have one wired and one wireless console and the difference between them is as clear as day and night.

Next is to determine how the console connects.

On the PS3's main menu (it's called the XrossMediaBar or "XMB"), the second leftmost option is called "Settings". The bottommost option in Settings is "Network Settings". Select that and then choose the first option - "Settings and Connection Status List".

You'll now be presented with a list of "techy stuff". Don't worry, we just need the first four and the last one.
  • Internet Connection - ? [should be "Enabled"]
  • Connection Method - ? [for you this should be "Wireless Connection"]
  • Speed and Duplex - ? [this will probably be "Auto-Detect"]
  • Address Settings - ? [I'll guess this is "Automatic"]
  • NAT Type - ?

"NAT Type" is at the very bottom and may need scrolling down to see it.

I'll again recommend wiring up your connection, but it's not vital. Once we've done this step, you're three steps away from the end - none are complex.

have no problem with any other game

This isn't relevant. We already covered this.

Of course making your connection better and more stable will improve all the other games too. If you don't want the help making GT5 work and making all your other games better for a better experience, let me know and I'll stop helping.

    Thanks..

Thanks but my PS3 is about 6 inches from the Hub and no problems with any other game so I'd rather not have yet another wire just for the sake of one game that wasn't developed properly, thanks though.

Wow.

I'm out.

Please don't stir up a bunch of fear about the DLC just because you are "thinking maybe" - you are merely suspicious about a possibility. You don't have any proof that the DLC is causing your problem. Thousands of users have purchased the DLC without any problems. Thank you.

Yeah. If you are so stubborn as to refuse to add one foot-long wire between router and PS3, then you're a lost cause.

It's amazing. The administrator himself is offering help and you refuse it. Must be some nice island of entitlement that you live on.

If you notice, Famine inserted some question marks (?) next to all the listed options. He was hoping that you could supply the missing information.

Your response of "Does not say this" to two of them is not very helpful.

Depending upon your answers to all of the above questions, I suspect that Famine was going to offer additional suggestions.

Just repeating that you'd "rather not have another wire just for the sake of one game" doesn't really help the situation. Famine didn't design the game console's Internet Connections, he was just trying to troubleshoot your problems.

In the end, it may not be possible to get your game to work, even after a review of your PS3's connection settings, and therefore Famine was offering a fall-back solution.

I know he was trying to help and I appreciate it but it just doesn't say those things, I could take a photo if you like and my not wanting that lead is because I don't want to make my house scruffy (ocd) for one game that is so popular you'd think it would cope with the internet, y'know just like all the other games do.
