Because GTPlanet is crawling very slowly, timing out, etc. It may be coincidence but it sure seems to be a consistent one.

I've been noticing it also. It seems like the server is taking a long time to respond to requests, perhaps as if the database searches are not being as efficient as we are used to.

When the server starts to serve the data, it's very quick, for me at least.

Given the path of the hurricane, and Jordan's location, I think it's possible that a number of servers are down in the general vicinity, requiring us to take a more circuitous route than normal through the 'net grid.

Aha! Jordan lives on the East coast! If it makes you feel better Jordan, I live near Lake Ponchartrain and the Mississippi River. Not to mention, the Gulf of Mexico. We get hurricanes/tropical storms a lot.

Jordan may or may not live on the East Coast. Isabel was a big storm, and the server is not located at Jordan's house, to the best of my knowledge, anyway. I was referring to the fact that millions of people are currently without power anywhere near the storm, so it stands to reason that a number of otherwise reliable transit servers are without power.

Yeah, I've been having almost daily problems with our new server. I'm afraid we might have a lemon here, I'm going to have it checked out... I'm in Kentucky, but the server is located in Houston, Texas at this datacenter. :)

Aha! You live in Kentucky! I bet you remember when LSU made the Bluegrass miracle. Don't ya?

what? how is that? then did you jhave 2 travel to houston to install the new server, im confused.
No, no, I've never even seen the server. I just ordered it from that website, and then I get to use it for anything I like for a monthly fee. It's really just like renting a server. You never have to actually see it, as long as you have all the login information.

Whoa, I've never seen you do that before...it's scaring me...

Oh, well, I wasn't showing anger, just unhappiness from mention of the "Bluegrass Miracle" (which, as a UK fan, is not something you look back fondly upon).

Irked is sooo not the right smiley for showing unhappiness. alexy2k could tell you the proper smiley, but he left in a smiley-induced fury some months ago.
