I got a box of parts on Tuesday night, which contained a gigabyte motherboard, Intel E7200 wolfdale, 4GB (2X2) GSKILL DDR2800 ram,eVGA 8800GT and a XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 heatsink, all of that in a Antec Sonata III case and a Antec Earthwats 500 PSU to power it all. I feel really proud of myself because this is the first computer ive ever built from square one.

So far, ive set the FSB to 333 and let it run at 3.16 Ghz and the RAM at 1Ghz

I had the hard drive and the DVD drive lying around, sp the grand total taxed and shipped was $630, without and OS. Right now im running 32-bit XP, but im going to switch over to 64 bit next week

Get the Scythe "Slipstream" fans instead. They're pretty much the favourite amongst silent PC enthusiasts. The 800rpm version is good if you want to be able to run at full speed without a fan controller, otherwise a lot of people opt for the 1200rpm version for a little more airflow and use a fan controller to lower the noise.

Also, if you haven't already, you might want to look at getting the bolt-through kit for the Xigimatek. Push-pin installation with a behemoth like that won't give you optimal contact with CPU, and a few dollars spent on the bolt through kit should shave a couple more degrees off your temps. 👍
 
Ok, This has been an ongoing problem for the past 2 weeks now, and its starting to bug me.

Its starting to randomly go into standby mode. No matter if I overclock or not, no matter the OS; Ive tried 32-bit XP 64-bit XP, and 32 bit Vista business. No matter what im doing, browsing the web, photo editing, or gaming- it does it. I think it might be PSU related, but that was just a wild guess of mine. So if you might have some insight to this issue, feel free to share.
