Hi I'm wondering if anyone can help, I have a Mac running OSX 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard), I recently updated iTunes to 10.5 and now none of my 'movies' or 'TV shows' play anymore.

All that is shown is a black screen and the time bar does not change, oddly this issue isn't present with any of my music videos (they play perfectly well through iTunes)

The 'movies' and 'TV shows' play fine when I use quicktime to play the files so there doesn't appear to be any issues with the actual video files themselves.

I tried the official forums and got no reply so I thought I'd try you guys here since you're normally pretty useful :)

I'm not having the issue you're having, but I have noticed that playback in iTunes 10.5 has changed somehow. Full screen playback is a little choppy in iTunes, whereas video plays perfectly in QuickTime. Something may have changed. CPU activity is still pretty low, so perhaps iTunes 10.5 has a new implementation of GPU acceleration for video playback, and perhaps that is the issue. We may need to wait for iTunes 10.5.1.

Well since I can't seem to find a fix I think the only thing I can do is wait for 10.5.1 and hope it fixes the issue.

If you haven't considered it, maybe an upgrade to lion if you don't mind paying for it. I run lion and have not had any of these issues with iTunes since the 10.5 update. If not I would just say waiting to the 10.5.1 update 👍 It shouldn't be long coming if there is issues with the current version
