What should I ask?

You may have heard, participated, or won too, but codemasters did a contest where you could ask a question by video. I uploaded mine to YouTube and was one of the lucky ones to be selected!:):):):) The winners get to go to a q&a and preview 2011. I fully plan on sharring everything I learn with you all. Event is on May 16 so stay tuned:)

Here is the question I asked: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kNk8IvUdDCY

Great job. Keep us posted.

One thing that they should do something about is tyre smoke. Locking up under braking usually causes tyre smoke, there isn't even a puff when you lock up. Same for applying throttle, hardly any.

Exactly what Peter said - keep us posted. 👍

Three questions I can think of right off the top of my head are these:

1. Will all of the chassis' still have overall similar performance, or will it mirror more of the actual performance gap?

2. Will the steering wheels be accurately modeled this time around or will we again bare witness to the 'one size fits all' seen in F1 '10?

3. Will up/downshift audio samples be improved; as in will it be closer to what's actually heard?

I think more important than any visual improvement they could add, they should start with the drying track. In 2010, for the player it will continue to rain, but its really not. In fact the track is actually dry enough to put slicks on, but you wouldn't know that because it looks like its raining. This also seemed to be the case when it starts dry and begins to rain. Although the rain is visible, there is no loss of grip with slicks UNTIL you pit. I don't know how many other people experienced any of these, but they are quite frustrating.

I think the weather effects are great.

I would ask if they will make an effort to make hike up the frame rate. I'm practicing Catalunya for our championship at the moment and the exit onto the final straight displays a noticable drop in frame rate.

1) Will there be a separate season and quick race modes?

2) Will an actual photomode be included?

3) Will we have the ability to disable the ghost car in TT mode?

I could think up some more, but figured I would limit myself.

How about clearer visuals, having to use racing line all the time coz I can't see through the blurry vaseline effect far enough down the road!

Split times?

AI that actually goes round the track, not racing an excell spreadsheet?

1) Will there be a Safety Car?
2) Improved damage, not only the front wing and tyres. also the cockpit, rear wing, and the side of the car.
3) Will there be more pre race stuff to build up excitement. Gridgirls, pre race scene/video, formation lap, national athem.
4) also after the race: a bigger interview, podium, cheering fan & team members.

Peter.

Seriously? You couldn't think of anything better to ask?

1. Safety car
2. Improved damage
3. No bugs
4. Formation laps, podiums etc.
In general, i'd like a step forward from 2010 and not just 2010 re-skinned.

congrats to you man.
some great questions already asked. i will throw in a few more

1) do they plan on making f1 game an annual release?
2) will we notice a diff in the game engine? by that i mean tire wear due to new pirelli's, engine power due to KERS or better slip stream n help from DRS?
3) any form of dlc (older models of the cars, tracks)

F1 will be an annual realease and probably won't have old cars.^

I would ask about the safety car anyways and maybe just a couple things about gameplay.
I wonder what they're plans for Bahrain are? Ask if it will be in the game if it won't be on the calender? Maybe as a non career race?

I don't see any reason why Bahrain shouldn't be in F1 '11. It was officially scheduled but had to be postponed, and as it stands they're looking to work it back in before seasons end.

Will the game be able to run on 4-6 core pc's...

waste of money f1-2010 was :grumpy:
50 bucks for a splash screen and a patch that didn't solve anything

Hmm, I have a 4 core CPU and f1 2010 worked fine.

ask them about the a.i and whether they've made them harder, please. Also could you ask them if different seasons will have different tracks. thanks

Right my questions would be.....

*Are you going to include pre-season testing?

*Will you be able to do events outside of the championship on career mode?

*Will the game include classic f1 cars i.e 1998 Mclaren, 1994 Williams etc?

*On career mode will we be able to work our way up from a test driver or from GP2 maybe?

I want the KERs and DRS, I was upset that there was no F duct last year. I don't care if the overall performance is similar as I realize the license has restrictions but there should be more difference in the feel of the different cars. Some should be easier to drive fast.

I use a wheel, I need better FFB.

No, no, no and no...
Its been explained in the codemasters forums.

1-testing (being a test driver, etc) and pre season testing might be included in a future game but not this one.
2- same as before
3- they only have the license for the current season
4-they only have the F1 license not the GP2 and see point 1

3- they only have the license for the current season

So what? Sony only had current F1 licenses, yet they went and obtained the licenses for the Cooper, Alfa Romeo, Renault, Lotus' and Williams' for F1:06/F1:CE.
Cars for previous seasons are under the control of their respective owners, not F1 or FOM, even for current seasons the teams can "advertise" their cars pretty much how they like as long as they don't advertise them under an "F1" banner in a game which doesn't have the official F1 license. (e.g. GT5 can have races of F1 cars...as long as they don't call them F1 Grand Prix).
Not that Codemasters are lying, its just its not a restriction for them to only have the current F1 license, they can freely negogiate for older or "classic" cars if they so wish to.

You HAVE to ask them about the PHYSICS which were "rubbish" in the last game. Ask about force feedback and wheel support which was non existent in the last game. The wheel simply vibrates like a controller when you drive over a curb. When you slide or spin there's no wheel reaction in your hands which makes it feel like a controller. THAT NEEDS TO GET BETTER and based on the last game there's nothing it could do but get better because there was no force feedback at all.

Yes the game rendered all the F1 tracks & buildings along with spectators which must have been tough....

But the realism has to improve and that needs to be stressed. :scared:

Also ask them about the online features and if that will improve significantly, because it wasnt great in F1 2010.

Ask them one final question: "Why do you think you (Codemasters) deserve the license over Polyphony Digital which produces a driving sim while your game has unrealistic physics and no wheel support (F1 2010). "

Don't even go there, totally off topic and there are many reasons why I am happy Polyphony Digital did NOT create F1 2010.

I think the topic starter has enough questions now to make a list, may be he could make a sum up. One thing though (If possible) I'd like to know If there was a difference between off- an online AI, because I think there was, or It was because of lag that online AI sometimes acted as If I did not exist. Do they recognize this, and If so, will It be better in 2011 ? Thanks, and have fun.

Okay well seen as those questions have been ruled out, what about these...

*Will there be flat-spotting on the tyres if we lock the brakes in a big way?

*Will the game include mechanical faliures for example gearbox failures you lose one gear and then maybe another and it just gets worse until the race engineer says that you have to retire or brake failures you notice that the car gets harder to slow down and then the brakes completely fail like Webber in Singapore '09. I really hope that they implement this :)

Dont be angry at me Im not the one making the game, I was only trying to be helpfull, you asked and based on what I read on the codemaster forums from people that asked the same things I thought I could help clear your doubts... I also have F1 CE and know that perfectly well, I also think the handling in that game is much more pleasant and rewarding with a wheel, but F1 2010 is far superior in all other areas IMO.

Does 2010 have realistic physics or arcade physics? And what will 2011 be under these categories? I haven't played F1 yet

Minardi

It would have been great if pd made f1 2010. I think we'd all enjoy playing it on christmas day 2013. My only complaint would be that the HRT was not a premium model.

See, classic cars Is one of the things missing in F1 2010 so they probably would get that right ;)

@cowboys965; It is definitely not an arcade game. Not 100% simulation either, but simulation on an enjoyable level.

Worse still, about 20 different variations of the Japanese models... I do think it is important to keep it a seperate title though rather than a side attraction for Gran Turismo.

On the question front, is too vague to just ask "What new features have made it to F1 2011, and what new features are still being developed for future titles?". Would give an insight into what Codemasters valued as important aspects of a F1 game. Is separate also from vague answer of "improvements to: "
