I've been wondering!

Should seasonal events be closed unless you have levelled up to say...30 or 33 (or whatever)A-spec before you are allowed to engage in those races?
Wouldn't that solve the problem of levelling up so easily?

I've just started a 2nd account to race the specials and the A-spec again due to lack of races in the game (and not because i want to exploit the game because i'm a lazy or greedy $hit) and found myself at level 19 in less than 1.5 hours and already i have nearly 1.5 mill in my account without even trying hard.

I know allot of people are offended that others can level up so fast (especially newbies to GT5) and in all honesty, i am 1 of those. I had no problem with the game progression of GT4 (as i have stated many times) and it was very logical the way you progressed within the game, but GT5 levelling and progression seems completely...out of "whack" compared to GT4 and is not logical at all.
This "problem" has been made even more of a "problem" with the edition of SE events; some people want quick and easy victories while others want people to work for the win. some want quick and easy bucks and every car in the game in their garage in less than 24 hours, while others want those people to slow down and work for everything.

Level 30 or 33 (IMHO) is easily achievable in just a few days with very little grinding compared to levels above 33, so i think people should be made to work for the right to partake in SE's...no doubt those people will say "why should i be forced to play the game like that?!" well my answer to that is...you had no choice in GT4 (dunno about 1,2,3 as i only started playing the GT series when 4 came out) so why should it be changed now!

What do you guys think?

I kind of seeing where you are coming from with this thread. I like you started a new sub account the other day for the sole purpose of getting the SE done again and also to do aspec again.

I managed to get to level 26 in a matter of hours on aspec (purely from borrowing cars in my main account).

Easy way to make cash for some of the "quality" cars that dont always appear in the OCD or UCD.

I wouldnt say it is exploitation though, like many have. I am not duping cars anyway, just wanting cars that i cannot always see in my original/main account. Plus the kudos obtained from the SE make it worth while

Locking the Seasonal Events, won't make any difference to the grind after level 35.

If your worried about noobs levelling up fast, don't, they will still struggle with the Historic Cup, and Formula GT etc..

The biggest impact recently has been the change to the XP Rewards (post update 1.06) lessening the grind to a quarter of that before the update.

I'm at Level 38¼ A Spec and have 11 accounts to keep me busy during the week with the Seasonals' to earn cash to buy and tune all the expensive cars (only three left to find in the UCD above 250'000Cr :)) then I harvest them back to my main account, this leaves me free to run the Nüburgring 4Hr. twice at the weekend (only six left to do :)) also this provides me ample practice to pick, test, tame and fine tune the LMP cars on the 'ring in preparation for the 24Hr version :scared:

I agree, this thread is not so much about stopping exploitation (since the game dynamics allow such "exploitation") as it is about forcing people to actually play the game and reap the rewards rather than rewarding themselves with minimal effort.

As i said above, this thread is not about "newbies" levelling up fast. I spose the bottom line is that it's just to damned easy to progress in GT5 and SE's have made this even easier. If peeps only concern is online racing then this thread is neither here nor there for them, but i bought the game to play the game and online racing has little (if any) appeal to me. truth be told, there is VERY little game to play :(

When you're at over Level 25, and have nothing more but extremely long enduros between yourself and Level 30... why erase one of the few challenges left you can actually play with less than four or five hours of seat time?

I've no love for people who complain about how others play. I have three accounts. One in which I do everything, one reserved for SEs, to generate money to buy interesting things, and one where I not only don't do Seasonals... I also don't buy cars. In other words... I'm trying to see how far I can get through the game by only buying the one car needed to start it (and I bought a go-kart) and by doing only offline events.

Having fun with all three, thank you./

I got to level 30 with VERY little grinding and not even touching the enduros..

And this is NOT about stopping "exploitation", in my opinion, the progression of this game is broken, dead and non-existent in the game and SE as it is only compounds the issue...this needs to be DIRECTLY addressed and fixed without deviating from the intent of this thread.

Thanks!

I was wondering why they would close the seasonal challenges/races? They are A-spec races that are missing from the original game and would really be helpful in keeping more content in the game. Even if the EXP and $ were "normal" after the end date, I would like to try a bunch of these races again in cars I bought for these challenges. Its hard to create a challenge for a lower powered car and I find on-line its hard to find low powered races. Most people want to use fully modded or super cars only.
I want to practice the Seasonals that are now closed. they were fun even without the $ and EXP.

Just my 2 cents.
Couldnt we "save" these races and play off-line without gaining $ or EXP?

I wish they would bring back random car rewards at the end of championships... not sure why they did away with that in the first place as it was a very good reason to run championships again.

i guess people could just not make sub accounts and do the seasonals. but if they do do it for the exp and money then so be it.

And i wish people would stay on topic and address the serious issue of "to easy to progress in GT5 especially via SE's" instead of derailing and/or hijacking my thread :ouch: 👎

To get to level 30 with out doing the seasonal events, you would have to complete every race in A-Spec at least 5 times. In my opinion, this is a little on the grindy-side.

To get the 2,931,550 xp required to get to level 30, you would have to exclusively run each of the highest xp reward championships (extreme FTG, Dream Car) at least 10 times (total of ~115 races estimated racing time ~23 hours). If you can do this in "just a few days" good for you, but again sounds grindy to me and it takes me quite a while to put 23 hours of racing in.

I have done all the seasonal bonus races since #3 and am currently level 29. Without the seasonal experience bonus xp, I would be on or about level 25.

I am sorry that your feelings are hurt that I am so much further in the game than I 'earned'.

The fact of the matter is that the seasonal events are only on for 2 weeks at a time and the idea denying people access to these bonus races until they have 'worked' hard enough to make you happy is asinine.

I agree. I think through level 25 the A Spec is reasonably balanced between reward and effort, at least from the perspective of someone who is new to GT (GT5 is my first.) You don't have to grind to get to level 25, there is adequate money and prize cars, and some of the races are easy, and some are still challenging. While you still have to run a few races multiple times to get to 25, you have enough money to buy some cars, or enough cars won, that it never feels like a grind.

where the content really disappears is past level 25. There is vast potential for additional challenges - exactly in the way that they did with the FR/FF/4wd seasonals for instance, it just doesn't exist.

I actually think the current balance with the seasonals is very good -- the FR/FF/4wd/ferrari challenges have conservative rewards but are repeatable (basically an extension to the A Spec), and the high credit/high exp seasonals are a great distraction that allows a once per week bump to exp and credits.

But to get back to the original thread, i agree with the idea, but to me 25 feels like a better threshold. I think you can keep the FR/FF/4wd/Ferrari races open to anyone, since they don't really upset the balance too much, but above 25 the bonus races are really beneficial to both leveling, and access to the rare and or expensive race cars.

I'm really very confused.
"Wouldn't that solve the problem of levelling up so easily?"

Why, especially if you don't play online, should you have a problem with what level anybody else is at, or how they got there? I for example have never duped or traded a car, but for those who want to - go knock yourself out, it doesn't affect me in the slightest.

You then (rightly) say:
"truth be told, there is VERY little game to play"
Yet advocate denying those that you deem unworthy access to a decent chunk of extra game. :boggled:

I see what you are saying and I agree they should be locked or limited somehow for lower level players but your suggestion of level 30-33 is ludicrous IMO. I have been playing the game since release and have done all of the the licences, special events and seasonals and I just crested LVL 30 last week. I have no idea how you figure you could do that in a couple days without seasonals and without grinding.

I think a better option would be to implement a system where under a certain level you only get a percentage of the XP for seasonal. The higher your level the higher XP you recieve.

The Seasonals are "extra" content which needs to be available to everyone. I see what the OP is saying, it makes sense to a point. Reward for your level is an integral part of RPG's. The GT series has NEVER been comparable to an RPG until now. Easy way to solve the issue for everyone involved is to get rid of the levels and use the licenses to determine what content is open for play... as it has always been in the past. On GT1 - GT4, getting that S license was an accomplishment, now it isn't.

With this reasoning, I agree with the OP. With GT5 the way it is, I would keep the seasonals open to everyone. Those who level up by using the seasonals, will be disappointed at the XP/credits given in A Spec events, but they will have a nice headstart on cars/upgrades. I'm glad I got this game when it first came out and leveled "the hard way". I like this game (I'll save the love for GT2 and GT4), just not the leveling aspect of it.

LOL can you imagine the uproar if players below level 30 were banned from the Seasonals??? There would be an angry mob with torches and pitchforks surrounding the PD offices!

The levelling, economics, difficulty, rules for offline career mode were totally broken already. You can over-tune, grind, borrow cars, trade cars, counterfeit cars, cut track, wall ride, and use dozens of other tricks to make your way through A-Spec. In fact it's almost impossible not to, and the game design encourages it.

I don't see how anyone could think restricting these new Seasonal events to level 30+ would solve anything. As someone who'd gotten bored and gave up on GT at around level 19-20, Seasonals were the thing that brought me back. The high payouts let me explore all these other cars I had paid my $60 to play around with, but were locked behind a slow, unrewarding A-Spec grind with no rules or sense of accomplishment.

Levelling I could care less about - I'm done with A-Spec (endurance? B-Spec? - zero interest.) Now it's all about time trials, improving my skills, racing online and collecting and tuning as many cars as possible. And doing the new Seasonals, and maybe trying some of the Immaculate Challenges. The only thing I use A-Spec for is my own style of grinding, which involves taking stock cars I've never tried and using them to re-run old A-Spec races.

GT5 is a make-your-own-game game. PD didn't bother, so it's up to us. High-paying seasonals, crude as they may be, give us the resources to do that.

Of course I'd still like to see some decent driving challenges from PD. Do some real game design work for a change! Restricted races of varying difficulty, time trials with standardized vehicles, a permanent set of leaderboards covering as many track/vehicle combinations as possible, and online matchmaking and rankings. These are the very basic and essential racing game features that are inexplicably missing from GT5, and its why everyone's fighting over the table scraps that are Seasonals, trying to get what they personally want from them.

I don't think that's right. I think seasonal events should be open to anyone as they provide good experience and prizemoney.

I agree with Smartbomb completely. Literally took the words right out of my mouth. The seasonal events are the only thing keeping me playing GT5 and if they were restricted to level 30, I still wouldn't be able to play them.

You complain that people can get instant cash by running the seasonal events. But in reality the only difference between the main game and the SEs is the fact that you have to play more, not better.

The rewards arn't the problem, and letting anyone race them isn't either. Its the event rules that make them boring and easy (the same problem with all the events).

The problem is that the XP required from level 0-20 is abut the same as 20-23 or 24 or something like that

And as such, to make it worth it for a level 33 player at all to gain something like 1%, a lower level player will jump half a billion levels.

Instead they should make a smaller increase per level, making 0-30 about the same as 30-40. That way each seasonal can be less allowing a player on level 10 to maybe only jump to 11 or 12 by doing them all while a player on 30 can get half or a whole level done.

I don't like the level system, and I hate the stupid amounts required for each new level.

The last few posters "get it"!
I agree that what i proposed in my OP has it flaws (what proposal to "better" an already released flawed game doesn't!?!), but i still think the game is in serious need of fixing or most people who bought the game to play the game will sooner or later get bored of even the seasonals.
Seriously, who here enjoys waiting for 7 days (if we are lucky enough to get the new seasonal within the time period PD said we would) just to play 5 or 6 new events which in all honesty should have already been included in A-spec?

1 things for sure, this (said through gritted teeth) levelling system is stupid, pointless and needs fixing ASAP to say the least.

If PD were to release an updated GT4 for the PS3 i would dump 5 in a heart beat...probably quicker! I don't understand why PD didn't just do that in the first place for GT5, how hard would it have been to add a few more events, add online racing update the games physics, add more tracks and cars, keep the license and not incorporate this mess of a levelling system, there would have been less moaning and more applause.
It wouldn't have taken 6 years to make and be a FAAAAR better game and we wouldn't be relying on SE's to enjoy a game we should be enjoying without SE's, SE's should be like...an extra treat, not a lifeline in the hopes of enjoying the game longer than a couple months.

Special events are great for when your stuck, with ow cash, so you cant buy the car you need for say the formual GT championship.
Soon as i get Cr. I tend to spend most of it.... i try keep above 3 mill.
Hoping to see more Seasonals soon!
