When i was using Windows millennium, I could only obtain a maximum of 100-200kb/s if i was lucky, and 400-600mb files would take a couple hours.

Can anyone tell me why I now, after upgrading to xp, can download close to 400kb/s, and 400-600mb files only take 5-10 minutes. I'm not complaining, don't get me wrong, but is it xp that has allowed the full capability of my internet to unleash?

MTU defaults are more appropriate for broadband in XP.

They can be adjusted in previous versions to improve broadband performance, but XP defaults to favor broadband over dialup connections.
