I've learned of something stunning in my town (Terrorists, don't read this)

10 Feet away from where I work, the main junction of all the fiber optic cables in the East Coast, underground.
It's a 40 by 40foot vault, under a manhole cover. People drive over it every day.
I punched it, so I can say, I beat the internet.

I've learned of this due to my boss talking about a terrorist flyer we got about Terrorists targeting gas stations. He said that he knows it because there was a small amount of gasoline within the vault itself. And the fact that he's had to spend tens of thousands of dollars on some extreme drainage system. He also mentioned that they take soil samples from everywhere within the area.

This is pretty weird. I've lived here all my life, and I've had no idea that this was here.

I'm gonna go down there some day, and say "I'm inside the internet" and maybe cut all the cables I can find.
It'ed be on the news, thats for damn sure.

So, I live 3 blocks from the internet. I've stepped on, driven on, and punched the internet.

When you go down there, you must tell us what the internet looks like. I reckon it has many arms and lots of online gaming...things.

I'm way up here, and you're way down in Cape Cod or somethin.

Besides, I figured it was somewhere in NY or something. Not in the middle of my town.
 
Cape Cod? I'm in Monroe, not a far drive from New Brunswick. I've heard of Cape Cod but have no idea where it is. :dunce: (prolly near the south end or somethin)

I want to punch the internet sometime :lol:

I'm only familiar with the Brunswick area and the Rahway/Linden/Union/Elizabeth area, in terms of buisness distrects. I basically know the towns connected to these highways: Routes 9 (but not northern '1-9'), 18, 33, 34, 35, 36, 130, and 1. I'm very familiar with Highland Park (near Edison) since I used to go to school there, Morganville and Abardeen since I go to school there now and karate, Howell since I go to karate there as well, East Brunswick since we're always out for something (shopping, fast food ect) Helmetta, Spotswood, Englishtown and Old Bridge as well, since almost all of my extended family lives in those areas.

But the names you're throwing out the window is like telling me about different airplanes; I have no idea :dunce:

Edit: Oh yeah can't forget Jackson and New Egypt since I'm a Great Adventure visitante semanal.

Haha, none of those highways go over here.
17, 80, 4, and 46 are the ones that run in this area. and you can always take 80 to 23 and head up to the Willowbrook mall to play Initial D Arcade Stage.

Ever heard of the Garden State Plaza? The 2nd biggest mall in NJ?

I hope you understand that "the internet" isn't a room full of wires. Though you can do major damage to the connectivity of the internet by destroying that room, it will have little effect on the entire internet. There are so many routes for data to take, that even taking out a major hub such as that will have little effect on the whole.

But interesting find.
 
I'm sure there's a bit more to it than just a manhole cover. ;)
