i'm agree with JV, shumacher play dirty and he's not a hero he win all this championship with a car very superior than they other ( i don't say he's a bad driver ) and i don't thing JV make a mistake to say that, yes he have a big mouth but he's like that since the beginning

Sorry but even if you are not a Schumacher fan that statement is simply not true, he has not won all his championships in superior cars.

His first championship win for Benneton ('94) was certainly not in a car that was considered superior to the rest of the grid, but then its was a very strange and shocking year for the sport. His next championship win was in '95, again for Benneton, but this time running Renault engines rather than Ford. It's certainly unusual for a car running with a new engine package, from a new supplier to be competative, let alone dominant in its first year.

When he first moved over to Ferrari a lot of F1 writers were quite surprised, given that it was at a low point for Ferrarri (it was '96) who had not won a constructors championship since '83.

It took four years until he would again gain the title in a Ferrari, working and developing the car with the team. I'm quite certain in my belief that the cars that dominated between '00 and today would not have been so strong had it not been for the large role Schumacher played in working with the team to develop them.

I would not argue that his cars in the early part of this century have been a major factor (but again he is in part a factor in that), but to say he won his championships because of a better car is simply not true.

In my opinion at least three of his championships ('94, '95 & '00) were in cars that were not the dominating force on the grid.

No driver can win a championship without a good car

I beg to differ. Schumacher won the 2000 WC in a car he rated very poorly. Dispite every effort from Ferrari they couldn't produce a car that suited him until 2001 and the following years.

Also in 94 and 95, the Benneton was overshadowed performance wise by the Williams by a long shot, yet Schumacher still won both years.

I think a good car is a strong part of winning a WC, but I think that it comes down to pure strategy, mental ability, and bending the rules. 👍

Edit: Sorry, I basically repeated Scaff (I didn't realise there was a second page).

awww:( I really hope he doesn't go

Welcome to the 25th of August!

I think he's accepted that his career is over now, the paddock looses another of it's great characters and will no doubt be replaced by a bland, sponsor driven doll of a driver. :)

That's life!

Not only did you do that but you also misunderstood my post. I said that no driver could win without a "good" car. I didn't say "no driver can win without the best car". Every car M Schumacher has won the championship in has been either a good car or a spectacular car. In 1994 the Benetton wasn't the most powerful car on the grid, it wasn't even the second or third most powerful, but it was better packaged than the V10 Williams and the V12 Ferrari. It didn't break down much, it was reasonably powerful, it had high levels of grip and good handling. It was a good car, but it wasn't the best on the grid. In 2000 M Schumacher might not have rated the car highly but it was still a good car.

There's a difference between a "good" car and the best car on the grid.

Very true.

I didn't misunderstand your post, just making sure that's what you meant without looking stupid by asking. :sly:

A few other champions have less wins:

Farina has 5 wins (1950 British, Swiss, Italian, 1951 Belgium, 1953 German)
Phil Hill has 3 ('60 Italy, '61 Belgium, '61 Italy)
James Hunt has 10: ('75 Dutch, 6 wins in '76, 3 in '77)

I know there's more, but nothing else off the top of my head.

Keke Rosberg 5 wins total, 1 win in his championship year (1982)

well, i'm pretty sure to say now that JV is done. i haven't heard anymore from him ever since his announcement
