So, back in 1964, Jaguar has only built around 12 out of 18 lightweight E-Types, which 6 of them didn't exist. But 50 years later, in 2014, Jaguar has ressurected the 6 lightweight E-Types, dubbed the E-Type Lightweight. There are no new advance technologies to this car, so this means that it will still have the same 3.8-liter straight-six engine that was developed from the old XK120, and that is powered to the C-Type and D-Type, which won at Le Mans 5 times. Its power cranks up to 340hp with 380Nm of torque, mated with 4-speed manual gearbox, a single-plate clutch that is fully synchronized, lightweight flywheel, and Powr-Lok limited slip differential. All of this weights at 1,000 kg, that's 114kg lighter than the standard E-Type. The E-Type Lightweight will bow at The Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance this weekend, and this is part of JLR's new SVO (Special Vehicle Operations) division, which includes the F-Type Project 7 and the Range Rover Sport SVR . So, who wants a reborn lightweight E-Type in GT6 or future GTs? If you want it, then vote now!
Specs:
Engine: 3.8-liter straight-six
Power: 340 hp
Torque: 380Nm
Transmission: 4-speed manual gearbox
Weight: 1,000kg

This car is desperately needed in GT6 or 7. At the moment we have no premium E Types in the game - how can that be when Enzo Ferrari himself called the E Type "the most beautiful car ever made". The standard E type is not competitive with other comparable cars in the game, but the Lightweight race car would be.

The Lightweight E Type was manufactured between 1963 and 1964. As the OP says, originally it was planned to build 18 examples, but only 12 were made. In 2014 the Jaguar Heritage centre started manufacture of the remaining 6 cars to the original specifications. They will be eligible for FIA historic race events and will be sold to Jaguar collectors who have an interest in historic racing. I look forward to seeing some examples on track next year.

Below a couple of pictures of the Briggs Cunningham teams lightweight E Types at the 1963 Le Mans 24 hour race - hopefully we have a choice of liveries.

Please PD make this happen - I am sure Jaguar would welcome Gran Turismo and the extra publicity with open arms!

I had voted in this one: We need this car.

It should be easy for this one to happen - PD just contact the Jaguar Heritage Centre who are currently building six of these beauties. I don't want to be able to tune it to 1,000bhp like in Shift 2 - they had 315bhp back in 1963 when running on Lucas mechanical fuel injection. I just want the car with a changeable racing number and a few paint schemes such as this one on the car driven by Ed Leslie and Frank Morrill to first in class at Sebring in 1963.

Why wouldn't you want to be able to tune it over 1000 HP?

OK. Do you know what would happen if you would be able to tune your E-Type over 1,000 HP? (Not offending. Just a question)

Given the skinny tyres, lack of any downforce and 1960's chassis technology I expect the car would spend more time off the track than on it.

Want. So bad. "Most beautiful car in history"? More like coolest most badass thing ever conceived by mankind.
Altho' I'll be happy enough to see the one in game converted to premium...

Just a heads up for everyone that there are only six days left in which to watch Channel 4's excellent documentary about Jaguar building a new batch of Factory Jaguar E Type Lightweight Racers.

This would be a perfect time for Polyphony Digital to scan / model the car as Jaguar have recently built a new batch against a group of unissued chassis numbers - also I am certain that Jaguar would be very keen to have this car put into the game - the whole project has not been done to make money, but to build on and make the public aware of their incredible racing heritage.

Evo review of the Jaguar E Type Factory Lightweight Racer. I note that in the commentary it says that the six new cars were produced after Jaguar digitally scanned the last of the original batch of twelve cars - there you go Polyphony Digital - Jaguar have already scanned the car for you!
