The 2021 Jaguar F-Type coupe and convertible arrive bringing a fresh look for the brand's sporty model, but there's more than just a prettier face. Jag also uses this update as an opportunity to install a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and introduce a new V8 engine tune.

There's no problem seeing the changes from the outside. The designers sculpt a new, low-slung nose and reorient the headlights so that they now stretch horizontally across the front. The hood also has subtle styling changes to match the more curvaceous appearance from this refresh.

The revisions at the rear are far less noticeable. The taillights now have a more angular shape. The lower bumper and diffuser continue to vary depending on the powertrain choice.

Stepping inside reveals more of the big updates. The 2021 F-Type follows the current trend of adopting a digital instrument cluster to replace the traditional analog gauges. The infotainment system gains standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the tech is now capable of over-the-air software updates.

The 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and 3.0-liter supercharged V6 carry over for the 2021 model, but the 5.0-liter supercharged V8 has some tweaks. The 575-hp (429-kW) and 516-lb-ft (700-Nm) version from the range-topping SVR is now available on the F-Type R trim. It gets the model to 60 miles per hour (96 kilometers per hour) in 3.5 seconds and to an electrically limited top speed of 186 mph (299 kph). The model also gains a revised suspension with adaptive dampers, updated springs, tweaked anti-roll bars, and stiffer components for the rear knuckles and ball joints.

In Europe, there's a new tune of the V8 making 444 horsepower (331 kilowatts) and 428 pound-feet (580 Newton-meters) of torque. It's available with either rear- or all-wheel drive. This mill gets the Jag to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds.

Both V8 engine options get a Quiet Start function that keeps the active exhaust valves closed for a more subdued sound until the driver really gets on the throttle.

Jaguar isn't yet offering pricing details for the 2021 F-Type in the United States. However, the coupe now goes for £54,060 in the UK, versus £52,310 for the existing one. This suggests the current $61,600 base cost might go up in America when the 2021 version arrives.
