Hello, GTPlanet boys and girls of all ages.

Jaguar is a well-respected British make. They have shared success on track and the road. Some of the Jaguars of today are amazingly luxurious and elegant. Like if some of you can remember me personifying the Toyota 2000GT as a princess. Well, here are a special pairing. A friend and an animal. Oh, look at you, XKR. You really love to impress those who look on you. Amaranth Metallic. Sapphire Metallic. British Racing Green. Whatever color you may be, you are a feline with 369 horsepower. If peers laugh too much about you, you'll attack with your sharp paws. And look at you, XJ220. Is this your pet, XJ220? Wow! Perchance you are a VERY beautiful lady. Yes. All 516 turbocharged horses of you. I love that Maderia Metallic dress you're in. So beautiful and alluring. What was that? You also have a dress like that in Topaz Metallic? And you say your friends say you look BEAUTIFUL in Amaranth Metallic, like the XKR of yours? You really know how to make a statement by just standing still. I'm sure to drive you must be like God opening the gates to Heaven as I drive the long road up.

But that's not all. It looks like Aston Martins want the top spot. AM has their share of success as well. It was too bad their AMR-1 project couldn't have continued. Like Jaguar, these cars are basically built for luxury, but with performance in mind. I tend to believe all or most Aston Martins cars look best in British Racing Green. So let's see these British machines go to work. The DB7 Vantage Coupe has side styling like Jaguar's XKR, but this car packs... 420 horses? It has a heart of 420 horses? Is this a wolf in sheep's clothing? He looks at you with his bright eyes, and when he takes off, he roars beautiful enough to woo the ladies, but mean enough to shake even the most hardened machine. And what is this V8 Vantage? Who does he think he is? He must be a father figure. Look at him. Over 50, and still young at heart. A heart of 550 horsepower. Always respect your elders. He looks good for his age. Must work out every day and can play golf with the best of them at Pebble Beach when he's in America. The Vantage tells me he has a daughter I haven't yet got to know. He said that her name is "Vanquish." She has 449 horsepower, and has recently graduated. So I had a chance to talk with her. Look at her. Her father and mother have done a great job in raising this teenager. Vanquish says that she loves the road. She loves the road so much that she can corner effectively with a beautiful roar and alluring looks. Some say she looks a little too mean, but for the most part, she is waiting for someone to show the Vanquish the world. She's all grown up. She wants to be married to a handsome gentleman who is more than willing to show her the world and care for her in her times of need.

Despite my figurative expression, you basically know what I'm talking about. Forget that both of them are owned by Ford (which declines quality), but let's look at them as two powerhouses in sporty luxury. Personally, I love Jaguars to death, but I think an Aston Martin is more around my way, since I'm more performance-minded. Jaguar differs greatly because their luxury can actually be affordable. The X-Type is around $30K last I checked, and it has four-wheel drive. The more expensive ones are the XK8s and XKRs. So which British giant do you like better?

Jag has the better lines.I would love to see them run with the Audi's in the ALMS.I feal that with their F1 background they could make a great LMP1 car. This would also help their F1 program as they have gone to the one engine rule.I have never seen a AM up here so I am a little bias towards the Jag.

I think that Aston Martin has better cars. The Vanquish is absolutely gorgeous. I don't know if there is another car that looks as good as it. Although i think my 2nd best car is the new S Type-R. I saw a commercial for this a few weeks ago and just fell in love with it instantly. If it were possible I would take the Vanquish, but the S Type-R is much cheaper at a "mere" $65k.

If I were to win the lottery, I would buy an Aston Martin Vanquish. No second thoughts.

The new Aston Martin DB9 is rated as "The Best Car in the World"... 'Nuff said.

The Jaguar XK8 is nice, but few people know that the 400hp XKR version cannot actually cope with that amount of power. It's quick, yes. Quicker than the XK8, yes. But the power overwhelms the 40-year old chassis.

Aston Martin > Jaguar

Both companies are great but Aston is in it's own league imo, Aston all the way.

Both build by Ford. Both have tons of interchangable parts. Both are nice, but Jags appeal to a wider variety of people because of the different price demographic.

Jaguar is Aston Martin Lite. The XJ220 may have been great, but compared to what it could have been, it was crap. The post-XJ220 and XJR# LeMans days have been rather crappy for Jaguar.

Aston Martin however is expanding nearly every single year since they were saved by Ford.

This is why AM always will be my favourite of those two.

How much do you think a Jaguar XKR weighs? It doesn't even come with a good manual either!

I think an XKR weighs maybe 200 or 300 pounds more than the Camaro, at the most. The XKR is all business on the outside, but my goodness... inside, it is wonderful. I think the XK8 and XKR have identity crises. I don't know. Either they are pure sportscars or luxurious sportscars. They have a high price tag, but you get what you pay for. With tuning (lower weight first), you can make them powerful race cars, even though I wouldn't recommend them for budget-concious club racing. Of course, why would you? Racing in a series where the most expensive car is probably $50,000 in tuning, but your XKR is pushing $200,000.

I think both Jaguar and Aston Martin should pull a TVR and come up with a one-make racing series based on the XK8 and XKR (for Jaguar), and DB7 for Aston Martin. I'd love to see both of these firms race, especially in endurance/sportscar racing. I think a REAL XKR (not the tube-framed, no functional headlights NASCAR-style bodywork) would be a standout in ALMS and maybe even Le Mans. The DB7 would make a nice machine as well with its elegant looks and powerful engine noise that only Great Britain can provide. In terms of racing, Jaguar has F1 competition, Aston Martin isn't actively racing (or prove me wrong). But like I said, I love Jaguars and think Aston Martins are as sexy as Jaguars, but I'm more of a Jaguar man. How about you all?

both companies are amazing, both have incredible cars but they both serve different demographics. I love both equally and if I was in the market to buy these types of cars, my decision would be ultimately based on which I can afford.
