Question.

I always thought the standards in GT5 where ports from previous GT games however, I won this today and was surprised to see it was made in 2010. If this is the case why is it not a premium?

It couldn't have came from any other of the GT series as the last one was GTPSP and this was made in 2009? :sick:

Are there any other standards which are from 2010??

Perhaps this is one of the standard models which is being rumoured to being converted to a premium model??
 
The Veyron is from '09 and it isn't premium either. Why? Who knows. Hopefully these and others are made premium.

Yes but the Veyron is a port from GTPSP isn't?

The Jag couldn't have been in GTPSP as it came out after GTPSP was released so in that case its a completely new model but done as standard only.

(Unless i'm wrong?) :scared:
 
I also wondered this, it looks good for a standard apart from the awful drawn on shut-lines. It wasn't in GTPSP as far as I can tell so it must be new. This may be a time related matter and therefore a stop-gap until a premium model is released. Or maybe Jaguar wouldn't give them enough time with their new baby to model it as a premium. Who knows but PD?
 
I got this today also, after finding out you have to gold the pro version of the top gear challenge. Found it tricky until it dawned on me you only have to change down from 4th for the Hammerhead.

Wish it was premium, so I could pimp it up good an proper like.

yes but they would have been made for the psp version, no? I can understand tho i'm just confused why a 2010 model would still be standard as it is a completely new model to the series.

All of the Ferraris in GTPSP were Premium models cut down to Standard quality. It makes no sense at all to make Standard models for anything after GT:HD came out.
 
The other thing I have noticed, is that the XFR '10 has NEVER shown in my used car dealership. Seeing that there is still no used price attached at mygranturismo, I doubt it's shown in anyone's UCD.

Why? I have no clue...

[edit: someone has put in $120,000... but that seems too round of a number for the UCD]
 
I was confused to why this was standard as well, my guess is that they wanted to make it premium, but since the car is a 2010 car, and they were working on so much (like making aerodynamic darts) that they didn't get time to make it in premium quality, and realeased it as a standard
 
The XF is due for a major facelift in 2011 so maybe the Standard model went in whilst Jaguar and PD share the info required to make the new model as a premium, ready for some DLC loveliness.

Its INSANELY beautiful and one of the funnest cars to drive at the TGTT, drifting all over the place

... Which is strange, really. I believe it is the only car new to the GT franchise that is a standard. I do remember somewhere, though, that PD said all new cars are premium.

Maybe it was fated to be premium, but they didn't have time (sounds ridiculous saying PD didn't have time). Wonder how long it takes to make a premium model...

It's the only 2010 standard in gt5, no idea where it came from.
 
The answer to why its not premium is because the games not finished yet, however I would love it to be premium.

I read in the playstation magazing that it takes 6-9 months to make a SINGLE premium car
There are HUNDREDS of photos taken of the car and the physics and add ons take very long to recreate

Remember that there's probably numerous teams doing this and that that timespan is a pretty wide range.

XFR was supposed to be a P car but Sony rushed PD and they didn't have time to make it P.
It takes about 6 months to make a single P car.
 
I always wondered about that 6-9 months theory. If they license the cars from the manufacturer anyway, why not let them give PD some CAD Files of the car?! To modify those to use them ingame (erase unnecessary parts, adjust polygon count) would take 1 person maybe a week or so...

Oh and on topic: Its a bloody shame! I would drive the living soul out of that gorgeous car... XFR RM'd, hellz yeah!

Considering most modern cars are designed using virtual 3d packages, it doesn't seem beyond the absurd that PD would be able to work with manufacturer data where it exists and where there is a relationship with said car company. After all, if you were Jaguar (or anyone else for that matter), wouldn't you want the models to be as accurate as possible?

As I mentioned before, major facelift due for this car in Real Life.
