PD has brought us this trio of historic Le Mans racers in full blown premium glory. I proudly own them all and have driven them a lot. Today I got the green Jaguar, and immediately I took it for a spin in Daytona, where I had previously tested the Ferrari P4. It was just a matter of getting to the first corner for me to drop my jaw to the ground and fall in love with the car. Great braking, predictable and precise yet lively enough handling, terrific acceleration and engine response. Also, special mention to the orchestra living inside that V12, they sure know how to do music. I had to exit to the menu to check which tires I had because I knew I was on Racing Softs. But the car was absolutely stock, Racing Hard tires all round. Around Daytona it was even faster than a SuperGT NSX, not to mention it murdered the P4. Faster around La Sarthe than a Gallardo and a SuperGT Impreza. Faster around Monza than the McLaren F1. Less than 5 seconds away from the R10 in London. The car is supreme, god-like, by all my standards perfect.

But then a question struck me. PD have troubles with tire selection realism, and Jaguar only built one model of the XJ13 that nowadays is confined in a museum. Could it be that the tires are too good for it? Maybe the fact the car hasn't been driven in real life around makes it unrealistic in the game?

Is really this car as wonderful and Nirvana-inspiring in GT5 as it is in real life? Perhaps we'll never know for sure unless a Jaguar test driver from the 60's comments in GTP, but what do you guys think?

Personally I believe the car is really too good to be real, but I don't care. It's so docile compared to the Mk IV and the 330 P4, even using the same tires it blows the to pieces in terms of both feel and times. I love every mile in this car, realistic or not. Will you marry me Jag?.

Jaguar RedBull XJ13?

My jaw drop when i 1st test drive the jag XJ13. I get it from the indy 500 endu. love the engine sound. didn't expect it to be a very great car at the beginning. expect the same for the P4 and Mark IV. that 2 other dream car i not drive yet so far.

yeah I think the tires are too good to be period accurate, the ring time for this car as I tested stock is faster than a 458 italia.

They built only one, but it doesn't mean it was never driven. Certainly they did a lot of driving in the R&D phase.
Also, the car in the museum is driven on certain occasions (e.g. Goodwood Festival of Speed) and actually Kaz drove it himself last year - check the GT TV. He is also in love with this car, I wouldn't be surprised if it's really beefed up in the game.

I wonder more about the downforce. There's nothing on the car that looks like it could generate downforce, atleast the adjustable kind, but still the car has it in spades.

I think the worst tyres in the game would be comparable to old days skinnies that the real car has. just a thought

I know how you feel about the XJ13, it is the sexiest car in the game. I could hardly wait to level up and win it :) And the way it looks, drives, sounds is truly akin to automotive magic.

Got it through the facebook game, love it!

Was amazed by it's cornering speed and handling. Looks gorgeous too!

Yes, Jaguar drove it.

Polyphony Digital did not. I think that is one of the points he was attempting to make. 👍

Yes, sure, I agree it's probably imbalanced, because Kaz loved it too much (like the GT-R :)). But actually Kaz did drove that beauty on the Goodwood, albeit a very cautious single lap on the track.
Just download the Goodwood episode in the Gran Turismo TV.

I love this car too, so much fun and the sound is amazing. I've chucked a turbo kit on mine, I know, it's sacreligious but I needed more power for the historic races.

I've had it for ages and I'm still only on level 28 i think. I can't remember what I won it in but when it did show up I was stoked.

Still want a 330 P4 as they look so awesome...

even though I prefer the 330 P4 for sentimental reasons ( i.e. red italian racing Ferrari, and not some modern era status simbol - it's matter of taste )
... man this XJ13 IS amazing !
I got the crome line edition from facebook, and as I've not completed the Indy500 to get the standard model, I was wandering how these two compare.
anyone has both and spotted any difference ?

Just check the stats. The Chrome one is a few kilos less and a few HP more, but the difference is small.

The majority of cars do have wrong tyres on them.

correct, sorry I didn't thinks about checking stats before posting :dunce:...

Just a notice to you all:

Here is how you can get the Chrome Line XJ13 for free, with a Facebook account:

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=135391 It really works, I got the XJ13 today, this is no spam as you can read from here :)

This!👍
@OP
I don't really know and I don't really care. I love the car, will never drive it in real life so I don't care about how realistic it's represented.

Who in the name of racing test drives a car on a crap track like Indy or Daytona?
You test drive it on the freaking Le Mans (Sarthe) for crying out loud...

I used the car in a classic racing series and yeah it's one of my favorites too in this game 👍 👍 👍 👍
