This is my dream car that I actually have a shot at owning. One of the best cars to ever come out of Britain.

Not to mention it was the fastest production car in the world until the 300SL came, what a great car this is.

Actually, the record it set was over 132mph, though that was using higher octane fuel than what was available for civilians at the time in Britain.

The record was set with the windscreen removed and replaced with a solo windscreen - my understanding is that standard cars were capable of approaching, but not reaching 120mph.

Jaguar carried out a similar publicity stunt with the E Type for which they claimed 150mph - the test car had a blueprinted engine and a few other mods to enable it to reach the magic 150.

The Jaguar XK120 Record Car 1952

:)👍

I know this. Just wanted to notify that is also suggested and the 1952 Record car :)👍

I just edited my post to correct the year - the car with the bubble canopy was the 1953 record car. The 1952 car was used to set many endurance speed records including exceeding 100mph for 7 days and 7 nights.

Also - the title of this thread should be altered to 1951 as wire wheels were not offered as an option until 1951. If amended to XK120 SE (MC) 1951 it would refer to the top of the range model which came with wire wheels as standard, H8 Carburettors, C Type cylinder head and 210bhp at 5750 - that's definitely the one I would want to drive in the game!

Na the year of the thread is right, it's a 1950 XK120 and the wire wheels was an option to the roadster even before that. At least in the brochure

Wouldn't you rather have the top of the range model with 210bhp than the basic model with 160bhp?

I have made my choice and there was only one engine option between 1948 and 1951 and this was the 160 hp engine. From 1951-1954 there was three the 160 hp , 180 hp and the 210 hp.

No problem - it is a beautiful and historic car which deserves to be in the game and a great choice, but my guess is that PD will select 1948 as that is when the model was introduced.

Perfect contender to the BMW 507 and Mercedes 300SL, like!

See, it isn't that hard to post cars that make sense in a game like GT

Thanks, Sick Cylinder, I have always loved this car and I'm glad if this comes to the game at all. Hopefully a car from the first years 1948-1951 :)
