I was bored at work today so I began looking through Wikipedia at various F1 tracks and came across Suzuka. I know the wiki can be modified by anyone but I had a question about the end of the article. It states that Suzuka will be going through with a renovation after a final scheduled race in Nov. 07 in order to retain its status as a F1 circuit and further share the JGP with Fuji Raceway.

My question, what will be changed in order to make Suzuka F1 compliant? Does it have something to do with turn 14? Anyways, just thought I would ask.

Oh yeah, and another interesting note I found, Suzuka and TwinRing Motegi are now operated by the same parent company.

There has never been any plans to make any changes to the circuit itself as far as I know. I think it's the circuits facilities that need to be improved. They are out of date. Like the pit and paddock complex for example some of the grandstands. I hope that answers your question! :) 👍

Maybe the run-off area? I would have to agree with Craig HP with updates, but it may be due to the course's narrow roads. That may be why they hired Herman Tilkes or whatever his name to defile Fuji Speedway...

You're getting the two confused. As far as I know, Suzuka needed it's facilities updated, much like much like Silverstone does, otherwise Formula 1 won't race there anymore. No track-reprofiling, no changes to the circuit itself.

Fuji, on the other hand, was a rather-outdated, overly-short (by F1 standards, under the minimum time per lap) and overly-simple circuit. It was rebuilt completely by Toyota.
