This is six-race championship between the Mazda Roadster RS (NC) '07 and the Honda S2000 ’06. This is a serious competition that will require good tuning skills coupled with a lot of racing talent. And on that note, don’t forget to have fun! :D

You will need both the Spa DLC and the Motegi DLC to participate in this series.

Mazda Roadster RS (NC) ’07 [Premium]

Specs:
-326 HP
-931 kg
-FR
-504 PP

The MX-5 produces in excess of 326 HP, and with a feather weight 931 kg, this car is 129 kg lighter than the S2000, and produces over 350 HP per tonne. While technically not as powerful as the Honda, 28 HP to be exact, this car is quicker around the corners.

hondas2000.png

Honda S2000 ’06 [Premium]

Specs:
-354 HP
-1060 kg
-FR
-504 PP

The S2000 is the more powerful car of the two. Producing in excess of 354 HP, this car is 28 HP more powerful than the Mazda. However, it is also 129 kg heavier. As a result, this car will produce only 334 HP per tonne.

________________________________________
Please purchase all upgrades for both cars* **.
*The Mazda uses the Stage 3 turbo rather than the Supercharger
** The Honda uses only the Stage 2 turbo

Cars are limited to 505 PP and Racing Hard tires.

Races will take place on Friday nights at 22:30 Pacific Standard Time (GMT -8). If there is enough interest however, a seperate division will take place on Saturday nights, at the same time. As of now however, races are on Friday nights. If there turns out to be enough interest, you may switch to the other division if you wish. A minimum of 16 drivers will be needed for the Saturday division to happen.

Race 2 | Aug 03 | 23 Laps | Suzuka Circuit / Weather Change
Race 3 | Aug 10 | 22 Laps | Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps / Weather Change
Race 4 | Aug 17 | 31 Laps | Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca
Race 5 | Aug 24 | 23 Laps | Twin Ring Motegi - Road Course
Race 6 | Aug 31 | 06 Laps | Nurburgring 24H / Change Weather / Change Time

Practice
Until the start of the race, you may practice with others on the track.

Qualifying Race
This is a race to determine your position on the starting grid. Laps depend on the length of the track. Note that "Qualifying Race" is shortened to "Quali Race" due to the stupid chat filter in GT5.

Race
The first lap will be a parade lap where you can warm up. Therefore, a 18 lap race for example will be 19 laps long. Maximum speed is 120 km/h (75 mph). The lead car will act as a pace car. Keep your vehicles about a car’s length apart.

As soon as you see that you’re in the second lap, the race is on! There is one mandatory pit.

Drivers are allowed to skip Practice and Qualification rounds if they need to, but must start at the back.

Should anyone get disconnected from the race, they will have to miss the rest of the race.

regulationscut.png

-Two wheels must be kept on the track at all times

-Deliberatly hitting other cars will result in a points deduction and time added
-Generally, each deliberte hit will give you a 30 second time addition, and 5 points lost
-Cutting
-10 seconds added, and 3 points lost
-Missing the mandatory pit stop
-2 minutes added, 5 points lost
-Use of forbidden tuning parts
-Race disqualification, points halved

If less than 75% of racers arrive at the lobby, the race will simply be cancelled.

I'm interested in signing up for this. Put me down in the list of participants.

Welcome aboard! I'll keep you on the reserve list (which is in my head ;)) until you make up your mind on what car you'd like to run. :)

Also, you might've noticed that I put "TBD" for ABS. I was wondering whether anyone would like to race without ABS.

Actually, I'm going to put that in the registration box...

I wouldn't mind racing without ABS since I never use it anyway.

I'll keep that in mind as well. :D

Hopefully we get more players. If we don't have at least 12 players by Friday, I'll have to cancel this.

I drive with a Logitech DFGT by the way.

Which car are you racing with?

Welcome Reiwon! Nice to have you racing in my series again!

Sorry that I haven't made my mind up with what car I will be racing yet. I need to sort something out with my rig, since I felt something snap while driving a couple of days ago.

No problem!

Hopefully it isn't a sign of anything bad going to happen.

Finally got my racing rig sorted! And for the area that snapped the other day, I replaced it with a stronger material and it should last for quite a while now :) .

I will give both cars for a spin and tell you which one is my preferred car.

I like the idea of this series, but I'm concerned my driving is .....not up to scratch.

Any chance I can know estimated lap times, this way I'll know if I can race or will be a rolling roadblock.

But again, great idea you have here penguin....oh and ABS off is fine for me as I kicked that habit for 600pp and down (Lemans cars....thats a different story  )

Well I've been tuning and driving both cars in the attempt to see which one would suit me better. If you want to know my fastest laptimes with both cars on GP/F, here they are:

Honda S2000 '06 : 2:09.543

Roadster RS (NC) '07 : 2:09.778

Be advised however, these aren't typical estimated laptimes as for these cars they are unbelievably quick. I ran both cars with Tyre wear and real grip and these fastest lap times were set just after the tyres had reached their optimum heat level and about 10% tyre wear. It's pretty close, but with further tuning, the Roadster can actually be faster than the Honda. For estimated laptimes, I'll say 2:11.1xx for the Honda and 2:11.5xx for the Roadster.

If you can get at least 0.3 faster than the estimated laptime for your car then you will be somewhat competitive. A rolling roadblock would be 1-3 seconds slower.

Cheers for that informative response, I'll see how I go with times and let you guys know.

In regards to registration, when will be the cut-off?

Registration closes on Thursday at 23:59 PST (GMT -8). :)

Hopefully we'll get a few more drivers! I'm not too keen on running a series with less than 10 people, to be honest.

Also, please check updated penalties, specifically for missing the mandatory pit stop. There is now a 2 minute penalty, and 5 point deduction, compared to 1 minute penalty and 3 point deduction previously.

I think the S2000 and the Roadster are both capable of getting a 2:08.xxx but I would have to really push hard to get these times.

Don't be afraid to post the times that you have been getting people. I think it would also be useful to have a practice session before the race day to get used to racing with each other.

I'll consider that idea, but I'm not too sure on it because of time restrictions for me. However, you guys can add each other and practice if you would like.

Thanks Penguin,

Even if you don't get the numbers, we'd still be racing (without points of course) right?

To me, the whole point of racing is to have fun. And racing with only 5 others (I know, I've hosted two other series before) isn't fun at all.

Perhaps you guys can get some of your friends who might be interested to come take a look?

I've let a few of them know, so we'll see if they're interested, but some are in europe and I'm not sure if they are morning people

Gotta keep looking over my shoulder, as I'm at work and the boss isn't really a race fan :nervous:

27 hour deadline warning...

If less than 10 people join, I'm going to cancel this.

Hi fellas, Just wanted to say my times aren't up to this standard (as I thought), so I wont be joining the series.

I do prefer the Honda though, much more stable under brakes, and all round easier to drive.

Good luck to all who do enter and have fun.
