Hmm, didn't see that one coming

Makes sense when u think about it because MWR use Toyotas so if he was going over to the Sprint/Nationwide series, good luck to him
 
Wow, that came out of nowhere. Obviously I'd rather him to go to Lotus though :sly:
 
:scared: The invasion has begun! Actually it's really cool to see a more worldly presence in NASCAR, jarno is quick in an f1 car. Will be fun to watch how he transitions if he actually does make the move.

I'm interested to see how he gets on. He's just doing it for kicks though.

Trulli says NASCAR test 'just for fun'

Jarno TrulliJarno Trulli says his upcoming NASCAR test should not be taken as a sign that he is considering a switch to the American stock car racing series.

The Toyota Formula 1 driver will try a Michael Waltrip Racing Toyota Sprint Cup car at Lakeland's International Speedway in November.

But Trulli, who is considered unlikely to stay on at Toyota next year, said he had requested the test because he was intrigued by NASCAR but had no intention of racing in the championship.

"Last year I had the chance to visit a NASCAR race at Michigan, which was a really interesting experience for me," said Trulli, who is believed to have attended other NASCAR races to follow former F1 rival Juan Pablo Montoya's progress.

"NASCAR is one of the most significant motorsport series in the world and I was very curious to see the racing first hand.

"At the time I asked the Toyota guys in the US if it would be possible to one day test a car just for fun and before the Belgian Grand Prix they offered me the chance to do so later in the year.

"After getting approval from team management at Panasonic Toyota Racing, I was able to confirm that I can take part in a two-day test in November."

He insisted that he intends to remain in F1 in 2010.

"I want to stress that this is purely an opportunity to experience another category of motorsport for personal enjoyment," said Trulli. "My commitment is 100 per cent to Formula 1."

Former F1 driver Mika Salo - who is eyeing a NASCAR career - will test for Waltrip alongside Trulli next month.

You don't get 4 pole positions in cars that were never the best by being slow. 2 poles with the half decent Renault and 2 with half decent Toyotas.

Jarno is easily rated up there with Raikkonen for being fastest over a lap (if not in races). He's always been seen as a 1-lap specialist and the "Trulli train" effect is where Jarno qualifies his car way beyond where it should be and holds the field up.

Nothing wrong with being a mobile chicane either - thats kind of the point of racing ;)

Jarno has shown great pace this year in both practice and qualies. Seems to just fly under the radar at times.
 
Cool, should be fun to see him go from an open wheel lightweight machine with infiniti downforce to a heavy clunkers that they use in Nascar.

Kimi Raikkonnen? Though he's probably too lazy for a 36 race season. Sebastian Bourdais has said he has no interest in NASCAR. Villeneuve could never get in, even if it was just because he could not secure a sponsor. Odd though that Max Papis found a way in and Villeneuve couldn't. Alot of NASCAR teams probably questioned Villeneuve's commitment, as you can see now hes trying to get back into F1

For now, yeah. No way MWR can pay him a fraction of what Toyota or most Formula 1 teams would pay him

But when he has no ride available left in F1 I can see him going to NASCAR. MWR would be a great place to start. It has been for Ambrose.

I think this should be when Nascar should say, hey lets add more Road Courses to the schedule.

I don't.

I'm pretty sure Trulli would leave racing as it is and do it as a hobby. Don't forget that Trulli is a wine builder as well. (brewer?) As of lately his wine has become more and more familiar with the crowds, and he also has won a competition in England. If Trulli doesn't get a seat, I think he'll fully turn all his eyes to his wine and try to make that a success.
