JDM 6 STAR CHALLENGE

Team Captain Qualifier

Hello, and welcome to the JDM 6 Star Challenge, which pits the 6 best Japanese manufacturers, Honda, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru and Toyota, in a series of challenges to determine which is the greatest.

This is how it works:
  • Each manufacturer will be represented by 4 drivers, 1 team captain (which will be determined here) and 3 recruits.
  • The teams will then get a choice of three cars to sort between them (obviously two people will have to have the same car). Some of the cars will require alterations to power outputs, which can be done in Quick Tune (This series is in Arcade Mode, by the way)
  • The venues and race formats will change week to week in order to give cars which didn't do so well in the previous week a chance in the following week.
The cars will be announced when the first round is set up, so it'll keep you guessing until then....:D

OK, so on to this Team Captain's Qualifier. So, what is it? Well, put simply, it's the chance for you to lead one of the 6 maunfacturers. BUT! before you get anywhere near that, you must do one simple task - be one of the 6 fastest drivers in this hotlap competition. So, what is the car/track combo? Well it's none other than....

Suzuki Cappucino '95 @ Midfield Raceway (Arcade Mode/Time Trial/Original Circuits)
Settings - -10% Weight, Stock Power, Sports Soft Tyres, No Aids

Simply set one of the 6 fastest times and you're a team captain! ALL TIMES MUST BE IN BY MONDAY 20TH NOVEMBER @ 12:00AM GMT
Remember to send time by PM!

So, off you go!!! And best of luck!!!

EDIT: Course list unveiled v v v

Ice Arena
Grand Canyon Tuweep
Tsukuba Circuit
Citta Di Aria
Opera Paris
Grand Valley Speedway
El Capitan
Deep Forest Raceway
Nurburgring Nordschleife

If equal drivers were to submit times that were done in cars with different tune than it is a matter of making your car +20%hp -10% Weight.

I myself will not be entering the series but for those interested I think it would be wise to provide quick tune settings for the drivers to run.

EDIT: My mistake, I meant on the Cappucino

Any specific settings to the Cappucino? +10, -10 ? RSS Tires I'm assuming.

That would be sports soft Drew as racing tires can't be used on road cars in Arcade, of course I haven't played Arcade since August 2005.

What I really wanted to know was power and weight settings, my bad on the RSS, I didn't stop and think about the car being used, every series I've been in lately have been with racing tires.

EDIT: Thanks, update was posted as I was preparing my post so please disregard.

Sounds interesting, I'll try and get a time in for next week

This challenge is really quite fun! 👍

The car's an under-powered junior hairdresser's roller-skate, that won't even accelerate up the final hill with stock settings (and even loses an mph as you take the right-hand sweep)

That being said, it is definately smooth!
Or should I say, smooth is the only fast way to drive it if you want to get a decent lap-time.

I have ran 10 laps, and found 4 seconds between L4 & L7 by changing the shift-points.
In the final 3 laps was only getting thousandths either way (so close the ghost was invisible)

I'll keep this as a 'when I'm bored, I'll keep trying' thing till the deadline. But don't think I'll find much more time.

video? i'm not sure what you mean. if you mean how to submit the times, then just send them via pm with a pic for proof.

Stop spamming peoples PM boxes asking them to join. If people like your idea they'll sign up on their own.

And to answer your question: no, I don't want in.

I'll give this a go, might not be able to make all the rounds though. Free time for me is very much a rare comodity.

hi live4speed

hmm, well if you might not make all the rounds, then maybe a spare driver system should be implemented. i'll have a talk with my associate and we'll see what happens. But thank you for joining, honest.

I'll give it a go, but I must say, due to the inevitable cheating possabilities, why don't we just go with -10 on the weight, as a standard?

i tried this for 3 laps in the '91 car. there is also a '95 version - which one to use?
what the race series will be like i don't fully get so this is not a definitive application for it. my t's are now at

34.471 - 1.04.246

refreshing to take such a slow car to this great track.

i'll edit some settings into the first post. sorry if you guys have been using the wrong car, i should have posted these earlier.

bigracer: this is a sort of "qualifier" for the 6 team captain places for the series, 1 per maker. Once the captains are selected, i'll call them together and tell you your next task.

And to answer your question: no, I don't want in.

Same here, he asked me twice within 3 hours ;)

ok, i'm sorry for spamming mail boxes :( i just wanted to advertise the series, what with all the bad luck i've had. i promise not to anymore.

OK!

Now re-done the 10 lap stint in the correct car WITH the weight reduction! Tsk,Tsk Nitro!:)

Managed to chop 5.3 seconds off with the new car/settings.
And here are my splits which are completely WRS clean including no short-cutting into the first tunnel or running wide in the second.

T1 31.007
T2 58.431

Fairly happy with the time so will probably submit this run.

Neil

Tried some laps with that sneaky little car.:)

31.280
58.767

Can you reveal some more info, nitro.
Racecars or production,or perhaps both, time trial or multi lappers?
Howmany rounds? Not to many I hope, considering most longtime races bleed to death.
Also the pic proof is not what I prefer.
I just never jump into clouded water, hence the questions.:D

It will be a big job to get 24 drivers.
I hope you have this raceserie better prepared then your other 25 raceseries.
The concept looks good though.

Later.

to answer you questions:

1) if you read in the first post, the cars will be revealed at the first event. until then, my lips are sealed...

2) the race formats will change, so one week it may be a race, then another it may be a hotlap comp. i will decide what the challenge for the upcoming week will be in the current race week (put simply, the task will be decided whilst you guys are getting on with the one set for you for that week).

3) i think the series will only go on for about 8-9 races and that's it.

4) in terms of getting drivers, i will talk to the captains about that when they have been decided.

i hope all of that helps ;)

new car and settings

33.761 - 1.02.701

1.5 off the laptime compared to the previous car.
i'll submit but am still unsure how this competition will be and if i'll join in.

Thanks nitro for the reply.👍

Sounds like a good idea that the captains look for drivers.:)

ok, i'm posting a course list for the series in the first post. look in a few mo's.

edit: course list is now up, check the bottom of post 1 to see... 👍

well nitro thanks for clearing that up. unfortunately i very much unlike city and untarmac tracks. looking at the track list i must say: good luck with your competition. sorry mate.
👍 👍 👍

well unless you used a different car than the one i asked everyone to, then you only have to PM me your time :) also, if you can with a pic for proof.
