It's rather old, this VTX 1800 cafe racer. Possibly was made more than 2 years ago? Anyway, I'll find some pics of finer examples of this type of bike.

EDIT: Now, this is a proper cafe racer.

"Now, this is a proper cafe racer." if jesse james came up to you and had both and said you choose wich one you wanted and its yours i am sure you sould pick the one he made. i know i would

By VTX 1800, I meant that the motor is from the Honda VTX 1800 cruiser. See: http://www.cycleworld.com/index.cfm?siteaction=OnlineUpdate&id=30

You asked me my opinion, and I gave it: I like the Moto Guzzi better. It captures the essence of what a cafe racer is supposed to be, Jesse James' concept is far too extreme (look at that stance--that would not be comfortable to ride). I respect your choice, however. :)

Doesn't look like any sports bike engine I've ever seen, judging by the size, it's off a big cruiser, which means it has its own gravity, and revs like a Mack truck. Which, in the end, just further emphasises the question I've been asking myself when I first saw it... why?

I wouldn't take either, to be honest.

i totally agree but hey in my idea if you want a custom bike you have to suffer a little. i find bikes that look comfortable dont look hardcore. i share the same veiw on this as joe martin owner of Martin brothers bikes. if you got a a custom chooper with a big puffy seat because it is more comfortable you look like a little girl. but hey if your into comfort thats you. but i think if you want comfort you should get a car not a motorcycle.

Yeah, I know everytime I'm riding I'm thinking "man, I wish I were riding a bike that caused back injury just from sitting on it" Seriously, why would you want a car, motorcycle, any vehicle that is uncomfortable to ride/drive?

I know other people must like em, but I really don't like the looks of those bigass VTwins. Cylinders that long just scream 'slow' :) Overall it's a neat looking bike, but I'd much rather have a CBR600.

You are right on the first part, the engine is off of a cruiser. The Honda VTX1800. But they are not as heavy as they look and they rev fairly freely. Also how high and fast an engine revs is not the only test of its performance capability. A low reving torque engine(which the VTX1800 engine is) paired with a gearbox setup to take advantage of its power band can easily produce good acceleration and top speed numbers.

The only thing I don't like about the Moto Guzzi is the way the engine is mounted. I mean not only is it less aerodynamic but the torque will unbalance the bike.

My thoughts... it looks like a guy who is used to making choppers trying to make a café racer... uncomfortable, imbalanced. I definitely applaud his efforts though! 👍

He should go to Europe for a while if wants to master it! The Moto Guzzi V11 is definitely better looking in my opinion.

I'm a sucker for my new 599 if that sort of naked/café racer is your thang. Too bad it's sitting under a cover in storage. :guilty: Just as well it was -30 C this morning!

Not once have I thought his style was old OR repetitive. What do I think? I think you watch too much tv.

That 599 does look good. It reminds me of the old muscle bikes like the Kawasaki 1000 and the first Honda Goldwing. Speaking of Honda I like alot of their new bikes. Dad got a Goldwing, 1800cc flat 6 engine, and it is actually fun to ride. I mean it has very respectable acceleration and handels corners fairly well for a big-arsed touring bike. Then theres the Valkarie Rune same engine as the 'Wing' but with different cam for more torque, and it doesn't have the saddle bags and trunk to pull through the air. The VTX1800 is the first Harley-Wanna-Be that I would acctually choose to ride over a Harley, I mean its got great acceleration and balance for a cruiser. I just like the direction Honda has going lately.

My friend just picked up an '04 Triumph Speedmaster. It's a beautifully put together bike and definitely a great alternative to a Harley especially for the price. He also has a 2+2 year full coverage warranty as well so you have no worries for a while.

The Triumph Thruxton is a retro-styled café racer as well but it was too uncomfortable to ride over any distance.

Here's pics of the Triumph Speedmaster & Thruxton 900...

haha my dad was telling me about triumphs. he said back in the day (long time ago) they were commonly used custom bikes. i don't really follow massive cruising bikes but he said his friend had one and it was all custom parts and stuff so my dad's brother said oh can i ride it? so the guy said sure. my dad said my brother has never riden a bike before! and as he said that he was doing a wheely (spelling down the street <8- P i think id rather go for a hayabusa though 👍

*luck. was 95 the year that did not have a topspeed? i just checked ebay and the most expensive hayabusa was a whopping $13,100. (that period was the edit)

insurance on a bike that big would rip anyone a new one on isurance. im never getting a hayabusa because i don't want to end up getting shredded to pieces when i lose control trying to show off <8-P

just noticed a day later....time for an edit

I like the JJ bike. But having known a few CAFE racer wanabes, they like to have a little bit of a windshield. The airflow from a small windshield into the chest of the rider helps tke the upper body weight off of the arms and makes the bike more comfy to ride at speed.

Yep, it's off the Honda VTX1800. Which is a big cruiser, I'd rather that engine was out of a RC-51(RVT1000R), now that's a bike.

he looks like a turtle on it, and he ALWAYS over does it with the chrome. its still damn cool though puts a whole some what new spin on choppers. i think the hell cat still looks much much better.here
