I have an '83 chrysler lebaron with a 2.6L Mitsubishi engine and i was reading about the engine and one of the crappyness factors about the engine was it has "jet valves". What are jet valves and what do they do. I took off the valve cover and they use the same rocker as the intake valve and they are much smaller than the intake valve. Any help is appriciated :)

I'm not particularly familiar with that term, but have a look at www.allpar.com . That's far and away the greatest authority on middle-age Mopars and FWDs in particular. Look for the "EEK" forum. Good luck!

I figured out what they are: they are supposed to let a steady stream of air into the combustion chamber to ditribute the air/fuel mix more evenly (for emissions purposes) but it said that they actually create a lean condition and burn pistions, cause oil burining and lower compression. I know one thing: I'm never buying another Chrysler product as long as i live:mad: But on a lighter note the valves can be eliminated by buying a kit for like 15 bucks

My brother blew his head gaskets 10 days after he got his Talon TSI. I give reliability 2 thumbs down. Though you will probably try and disagree because DSM owners don't wanna admit that they break down. If you're gonna get a DSM you better have alot of money to fix it.:D

I dont know what you dont understand, but i'll repeat everything somewhat simpler. DSM - Diamond Star Motors (Engines and engine parts made by Chrystler (I think)) Eclipses, Talons, Lasers, Probes, MX-6's, and some others I can't list them all. Anyway, my brother's engine blew basically.

Probes and MX-6s are Ford/Mazda products. No relation.

The DSMs were Eclipse, Talon, and Laser. They were mostly engineered by Mitsubishi - particularly the eninges, including the 2.0l I4 and 2.5 and 3.0l V6s - not Chrysler, so don't blame us.

The Neon's engine and the rest of the car, however, is all Chrysler, engineered in house during a period of separation from Mitsu.

the reason i didnt understand is because what you said was irrelivent to what jet valves are. Im not trying to be an idiot or anything I just thought you replyed to the wrong thread or something
