Sorry not at all, that's the exemple with 12 submissions where we use to full range from +5 up til -5% hence the double 0-0 in the middle positions, 6 submissions was always 3-2-1-1-2-3 since the start.
Okay, I guess you could see it that way. In none of the examples do you show a +1/-1 middle, though you do show a 0/0 middle (like you said, in the case of a 12 sub race).
So, 13 subs, you state 5/4/3/2/1/1/0/1/1/2/3/4/5. For a 14 sub race would you then propose a 5/4/3/2/1/1/0/0/1/1/2/3/4/5? Or 5/4/3/2/2/1/1||1/1/2/2/3/4/5? And for that matter, then, by pattern, why isn't the 12 sub race more like 5/4/3/2/1/1||1/1/2/3/4/5?
I think if your goal with penalty weights is by design to add some change when possible, be it positive or negative, then the 0/0 middle should not be used. Rather, as in my 12 sub model above, you extend the lowest absolute value non-doubled weight adder/subtractor and avoid zeros completely.
I think this point requires some clarification as it's not intuitive. Truth be told, I prefer your calculation method and after reviewing the past results, your method is what you've used consistently AFAICT. I've never had to double check MY weight as I've consistently added or maintained until last race :^P.
