So, my buddy bought a G27 which was good for me as it meant I inherited his old Logitech.

I tried the ironing board solution for a few days, but it was too cumbersome. So I looked about here for ideas.

I armed myself with my toolbox, a saw, a drill, a bunch of screws, and some left over wood from the loft, and this was the result:

Loads more pictures here.

Basically, I just had loads of wood, looked at my scruffy sketch, and started building it on the fly. It took me a couple of days and I'm reasonably proud of the result.

It's a prototype at the moment, I'm going to make a few changes to it, and might end up building it again from scratch.

I thought I'd post to say thanks for the inspiration.

Pretty cool. Looks like something you can put away easily in your closet. What color are you going to paint it?

I'm probably going to replace the support arms with sliding chrome tubes.

Then I'm going to sand everything down, fill in all the knots and grooves, and paint it black.

Once that's done, I'm planning on covering the wheel shelf in mock carbon fibre, and the footrest in diamond plate.

Should look super cool then.

Good luck with that ! Would love to see the final result ;) .
