Right, who had bets on the starter motor?

Nice AA man came and confirmed it, before promptly bump starting me (which, according to the manual, Ford don't like you doing but there we go...) and sending me on my way. Should have a new one fitted by wednesday. Crisis averted.
I doubt any manufacturer would recommend bump starting, but if it works then what's the problem :D

Just got back from having an MOT that I may or may not have forgotten needed doing, and it passed but with a couple of advisories:

  • Offside front brake house slightly deteriorated
  • Front brakes only just met the front brake imbalance requirements. It would appear that the braking balance system requires adjustment or repair ('RBT Front Brake Imbalance: 23%')

Just wondered if these two things might be linked, to be honest - I have noticed that they're a bit imbalanced and sometimes pull in one direction, but only on a very specific bit of road for some reason.

Any thoughts? Don't massively want it to get any worse, so if I could have any clue as to what's causing it and how much to fix it'd be nice and handy.

Is it house or hose? - if it's the hose and it's leaking fluid under pressure, i'd have thought that it could cause an imbalance in brake performance. Brakes are pretty simple, i shouldn't think it would cost much to get someone to take a look at it and remedy the issue.

Sorry, hose :P Don't know how I managed that...

Ahh, that kinda backs up my theory then - seemed logical that an issue with one side would cause an imbalance. Marvellous, probably just one thing to fix then.

Could just be an odd bit of camber on that specific road. As TC says, the problems are probably linked. Easy fix, I doubt it'd be much in labour either if you don't fancy tackling it yourself.
