Ok no, the apocalypse is not coming, lay your hearts to rest. :p What is coming however is my first ever Job Interview, yep after a year long relationship with Application Forms, I finally broke my duck.

So, has anyone got any tips, storys or anything to do with job interviews?

Thanks!

Get some information about the company you've applied for, show an interest in what they do. Ask at least 3 questions, make a list of 7 or 8 and memorise the questions, some will be covered in the genreal chat and if you only write down 2 or 3 and they are all covered then you'll be left umming and arrring when they ask "do you have any questions Lee". Try to sound confident and don't be afraid to promote what your good at and try to be too modest, exaggerate some points as well but not to a level where you can be caught out, don't go overboard.

EDIT: Oh and look smart, first impressions mean a lot.

1)Don't make any threats, these are never helpful.
2)Never, in a job interview refer to any of your friends or relations as your "bitches".
3)Show enthusiasm, but don't look desperate.
4)Insults never help
5)Stay calm at all times. Panicking will make the situation worse.
6)Good Luck!

Realize that they know they are hiring a body and not someone with experience. Show your willingness to want to learn. As a young person coming into a job, they already know they have to teach you how to do the job. What they really want to know is how personable you are and how well you're going to work with others.

Well dressed, clean cut, and respect will get you in easier than you realize.

At the end make sure to thank the interviewer for the oppurtunity to meet him/her.

Don't fiddle, and remember to sit up straight, and look them in the eye.

If you ever say "Dude" in an interview, consider it over.

Most of all, don't worry about it. You'll do many, many more in your lifetime.

If you have long hair (It's short at the mo, right?) tie it back.

My mate made the mistake of going to an interview with his rather long hair not tied back. Could have done with being clean shaven aswell.

The results are in, the votes are being counted and I can safely say...

I got the job!! They offered me it at the end of the interview, Monday to Friday, 570 a month. Job done. :D

Well done 👍

May I ask who you are working for?

What are the hours like? Will you have to get up..... In the morning?? *shock horror!* :scared:

Bee

Odeon cinemas :D I'll be the person taking your money and giving you bits of card in return at the Banbury branch. ;)
Haha, so you gonna be the 'cool' guy that doesn't ask for ID or that annoying old bloke that always does?:sly:

Well next monday when I start, I have to be there for 1 in the afternoon.. :p

I'll see..

That cool guy that doesn't ask for id get's fired when the managment notices him consistently not asking. I assume you'll be doing shifts, some days you'll be working earlier than others.

Congrats, Lee. 👍 Maybe you should be giving us tips on interviews!

Bingo.

Of course I'll ask for ID and age, yes I'm doing shifts my official title I think was "First Reserve Cashier", I'll get to main one day..

Well done, Bee. "Bee is a happy bunny", how does that work? :dopey:

Do everything right, and stick with it. It may not be the best job in the world, but its a start, and its easier to get another job if you already have one.

Well it's been 3 months now and I thought I'd update everyone on how I'm doing!

I'm now not only a Cashier but Floor staff which is... Fantastic. (Note the sarcasm) It means some days I'll be issuing the tickets, other day's I'll be tidying up after every showing, I guess the latter has alot more social contact with the co-workers but at the same time it's about as hygenic as a public toilet.

Money is still coming in nicely over the 450 mark but I should be getting a rise now my trial period is coming to an end on Monday, that is of course aslong as I keep my job. I now have 3 bosses instead of one, David who I get on with fine, Paul who actually cares about the company and gets jobs done and Dan who is probably my favourite, uber laid back and a funny bloke.

Oh and finally,

Me
I'll get to main one day..

Someone was put down as "Main Cashier" on Thursday and again Today :D. Infact, I've even started training new employees!
:scared:
