Well, recently my family has decided to replace our current Crapbox (98' Corolla) with something not as embarrassing to be seen in. After much influence from me, they too agreed on a Subaru Legacy (Liberty here, however). Our budget is anything below 24k, total. That major factor here is insurance, but it will be under my parent's name. In one year, I'll be able to my learner plates so I can use both cars to learn in. Our other car is an auto, and this one will be a manual and the 2.5l model really appeals to us.

There's only a few for sale which fit the required options. This one in particular caught my eye, and we'll be off to inspect that later today.

I doubt anybody will know this too well, but can a turbo (I know that there's a lot more involved but bare with me) be fitted to gain more power in around 4 years or so? The reason I ask this is because it's illegal to have a turbocharged car here when learning etc. I rather not buy another car just to have that extra feature.

Has anybody else had any experience with one of these cars? Are they very practical? etc. Not worried about performance at all right now.

Thanks. 👍

I have an '08 which is just the updated version of the one you linked to. Mine is a 2.5SE non turbo with a stick, the back seats are a little hard to get everyone into but the trunk I fit in with room to spare! (And I'm not a small person by any means, plus the emergency trunk latch release is glow in the dark, very trick EDIT I think, it appears to be of the right material but I didn't let it see any light as a popped in and I guess it would be kind of diffecult to make on actually glow in the dark,)
I average about 25-27 MPG using the cruise control anytime I can, fit and finish is good, overall it has been a most excellent DD with its AWD and such, if only it had a turbo I'd be more inclined to keep it after the lease is up in a few months.

Well we went to see the one which I posted up the top today, and even though the car appeared to be in good condition, it had a very questionable history to it. We don't want to take any chances with this so we declined.

I doubt we can afford an 08' model, we're rather looking for an 04 - 06' due to price. I would buy a GT but they're all auto and I can't drive one for my first car. Looks like I'll be searching a bit more now.

Thanks linkin for the reply 👍
