After years of wanting a sim seat and wheel I finally bit the bullet and forked out the $799 for the seat wheel and club sport pedals and shifter. My main question is what should I expect? How do I get started? What methods did people use for the transition from controller to wheel?

All help is appreciated in advance!

You're in for totally new and awesome experience. Just take your time, have fun, and soak up the forums.

when I went from controller to wheel (DFP) back in the PS2 days with V8sc 2/Toca 2 main trouble I had was driving straight without wobbling left & right initially but well worth the effort

VraPlus - When I got a wheel I started the game again from the begining - by the time you get near the end of the game you will have got the hang of it. As Mayaman said - take your time and enjoy - I am sure you will!

I see so many jump in a cockpit and floor it around every corner and then complain. I always say, is that what you do with a real car ?

Half & three quarter throttle for many laps - if you build that discipline to not floor it you'll get a better handle for the steering etc.

If you're like me, you can floor it straight away and come first all the time... ;)

Haha I wish but I've done rally cross before so I have a basic concept of racing its just translating that into video game experience that's gonna be difficult, but I'm sure force feedback will let me feel the cars attitude around corners I've been watching a lot of t/t replays over the past week for reference since a lot of those guys use wheels. I'm noting throttle control and smooth weight distribution which translates to smoother movements in the g-meter that's my goal for beginning, once I get used to that I'm gonna work on pushing the envelope and testing the limits of the cars! I'm pumped I receive the whole setup on the 11th, according to the latest email I received. Anyone have suggestion for force feedback setup? I want to feel the car, but I don't want the wheel to rip my arms off.

Please let us know what you think of the CSL cockpit. I haven't seen too much written about it.

Well from what I gather the csl cockpit is the rinoseat cockpit version made by fanatec. And reviews for that where awesome. But I will defiantly write a full review as soon as I receive it I still need to buy a 32 inch tv and a small table to mount it on.

Sorry about spelling I'm posting from an iPhone.
