If you were to enter a photomode competion for a specific track, say Tahiti Maze and you took a picture of the vehicle you were driving straight on. Would this photo be considered unrealistic given the circumstances of the car coming towards you at a high speed or would this be plausible. I've noticed that some tracks if your'e driving them and look at the pedestrians on the sidelines some will actually jump off the sidelines and snap a quick photo then run back onto the side before you get to them.

Again, to reinstate the question. Would a photo taken from this standpoint be unrealistic, or would it just be considered to be a normal photo?

Thoughts?

The photomode competition looks more at how the picture looks than it does at how realistic it is. And straight on pictures of the front end generally don't look that good. Best photo's come from an angle. Although I'm not doubting you could get a great looking photo at that angle.👍

The first jump on El Capitan can give you amazing results when looking at Escudo. Actually as long as the front end of the car is big and imposing you can get some really nice shots.

Ahah, damn I gotta go do it again. I didn't like the way the original one i took looked. But for the moment I have a nice shot coming onto the pavement with the Escudo on Cathedral Rocks 2. http://s70.photobucket.com/albums/i87/bergauk/?action=view&current=IMG0023.jpg

Got what i assume to be HalfDome in the background.

I'll be back with the Escudo jump.

Edit: This was as straight on as I could get it. But you can clearly see what I'm talking about, there are positions on tracks where it looks as i a fan jumped the line to get the photo.

It is possible to have straight on photos in real life. For example, people drive the 2nd car in front of the subject car and take photos from there. Not only good looking but great sense of speed. On rally track is unrealistic because it is too bumpy, maybe a helicopter? :)

Oh yes I have forgotten about those low flying helicopters that whiz right by you when you're watching a race. [sarcasm] Although it might be possible to do so if you were some crazy person and set up a tripod on the first lap and waited till that point in time for said shot then pulled it back in while still remotely taking a picture. In theory you could get some crazy photo like that. Or as an alternative method, gauge how far each car jumps a jump like that and position your camera in such a way that you might get a photo of the jump. Of course these photos would take lots of time to set up, at the risk of the camera getting smashed and watching the ensuing crash from the camera smash. Might be fun to watch though. =D

Professional photography is always crazy to the outsiders. Same as video/movie production, it may take 5 hours to do the makeup, but the scene lasts no longer than 5 minutes.

In our photomode competition, some people like me will spend more than 3 hours editing the photo to make it look perfect, but most voters would spend less than a minute checking out the picture. How sad is that!! but a good impression will last forever.

Very true franz, I have a photographer friend and she'll take days to take one photo, then she'll come back inside after taking it. Then she hops onto to photoshop and spends around 5 hours on the photo she took. only to turn it out looking very similar to the original.. =/ Photography is an interesting thing, and I'd like to get into it in real life. all i need is a nice camera with a couple lenses and I'm good to go.
I wanna get home and go take more photos on photomode. Gotta wait about an hour to get back though.
